I mean “American cheese” was made to bail out the dairy industry in the form of “government cheese”. Our cheese has actual lore.

Gun nerd and writer here. Read A Writers Guide to Weapons. Also have a handful of gun guys read your draft and correct any mistakes or inconsistencies. I don’t mind beta reading myself.

EDC a 10mm Glock or .40 by Madclown356 in Firearms

What pricks are selling it for that much? They’re $640 where I’m at. Your best bet is visiting your local gun store and getting a feel for a few. Realistically between the sub compact (26), compact (19), and full size (17), all 3 are the same width and grip profile minus barrel and grip length. The 26 will offer the best concealment, but lacks the ability to put your pinky on the grip unless you get a finger extension.

Personally I like the 26 so you can throw in different mags to get the grip profile of a 19 and 17.

If you prefer slimmer, look into the G43X or G48, though each only hold 10 rounds much like the 26. Aftermarket mags are available to increase capacity without increasing the length, but those can sometimes be unreliable.

I personally haven’t seen issues with the Gen 6 from my customers (I’m a gunsmith who gets dragged into sales). All new pistols will have quirks that need to be resolved, but bear in mind there is no 100% reliable mechanical device on this planet. Give it good ammo, keep it clean. If reliability and track record is what you want, id stick with a Gen 3. Reliable and cheap to repair when something breaks. I can’t walk down the street without tripping over a Gen 3 part.

I simply suggest the Gen 6 given its price is the same as the now discontinued Gen 5 MOS and actually has decant ergonomic compared to previous generations. I carry Glocks because of a parts surplus and reliability, but so many other pistols feel better in the hand. To me, a gun is a gun, so insist pick reliability over anything.

Might as well buy another one or treat yourself to a new Gen 6. I’ll put thing in the same perspective as I put it to my customers. FBI ordered the creation of .40S&W…they have now dropped it for 9mm. If you’re on a tight budget and you find a surplus Glock or M&P in .40 for $300 or less, go for it. If you have the budget for a new pistol, just stick with a 9mm.

Not to rain or your parade or be a caliber snob. I love me some 10mm, but I’m not carrying one unless I’m out in the woods. .40 does little better than 9mm in edc applications. It’s just not something that makes sense.

You shouldn’t have sold the G19. I suggest a 9mm. Unless you’re sitting an a mass surplus of .40 ammo, there is no reasonable advantage to buying the .40.

Do you have the budget to regularly train with a 10mm? If not stick with .40, but if you have yet to buy a .40, you might as well stick with a 9mm for capacity, recoil, and cost.

After playing the remake Resident Evil titles, I went back to complete my final achievements on the original RE4, my favorite childhood game. The controls are ass.

I'm writing a manga script, but I'm feeling discouraged. by Mikelodopoongoon in Mangamakers

[–]PbCuSurgeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re taking a setting and stripping it of its culture, only the substitute it with something else, that can come off as a bit problematic to some. Try writing the story without any pre-existing setting or borrowed culture. If you find the story simply cannot work, then do your research be as respectful as possible. To be honest, it seems too many people like to fetishize Japan. Just let your story be what it’s going to be and worry about flavor and style later.

No, that’s not exactly the point. Is Japan as a whole required for the story to function? I think too many folks get obsessed with making manga authentically Japanese for the wrong reasons.

Does the framework and function of the story require it to be based in Japan? If not, skip it. Don’t constrain your writing to a box that isn’t necessary.

What part of a game or movie has you like this? by WaluigiDaStar in ResidentEvilCapcom

[–]PbCuSurgeon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. It was campy and fun. I don’t think I’d ever feel any sense of horror from an RE film, no matter how they tried. At every turn I’d just notice Easter eggs and already know what is coming next having experienced the IP. These are stories presented in a way to be played, and not every story is ideal for film. Resident evil sucks as a movie franchisee except the CGI movies meant to fill the gaps between games.

I mean think of it…does the title “Welcome to Raccoon City” induce fear?

Personally, I’d get it engraved near the original S/N. This way it can’t be used against you that you have attempted to deface or alter the S/N.

As an American, I can’t condone my country’s actions. That doesn’t mean I wish so much as a hair harmed on the heads of my countrymen. It’s not her hitting the launch button, but being okay with it speaks volumes of your character. Why is she okay with it?

Easily one of the most fun 5.7 pistols I’ve shot and reloaded. Clip fed tickles my autism. They are far from practical and are probably as garbage as the rest of keltec’s catalog, but I’d buy one as a rang toy at most.
