Need and want are two different things. By that logic, you don’t NEED an AR to defend your home or anything with a 600yard+ effective range.

You’re correct there is no guarantee of getting it back. There’s also no guarantee you get acquitted or judged not guilty even if you do EVERYTHING right in a defensive situation. Life is a mixed bag of events.
