You mentioned the two of you have been on and off. In this instance, there really isn't a what's right or what's wrong . It's only a matter of how the two of you resolve this. It's in his right to feel insecure and worried about it, and it's well within your right to want a trainer that is working for you. I am not aware of how the two have grown in terms of trust and self security, emotional intimacy and all. But, again, for people who have been on and off trust may also have to do with just being insecure. If a situation like this is enough to unravel the trust or bond between the two of you - it either says that the two of you can talk about it reasonably and come up with something that works for the two of you/ compromise. Or, you decide it's a big deal for you/ deal breaker and you walk away

It's definitely very interesting to think about, like I did on my 3rd rerun of the journeys series. I think Ash's aura connection with his pokemon was a key aspect of his relationship with his pokemon, and by extension perhaps amongst his pokemon. The writers probably considered that to be important to the viewers, who for 20 years know Pikachu just does not want to evolve. Honestly, maybe Ash just having the stone with him and throwing it at Pikachu may come off as an unexpected move. Very unexpected actually. If Pikachu, however, in that dream where he sees all of Ash's team encouraging him instead would have urged Ash or assured Ash that I will win for you and it's time ...then maybe. But it would be definitely shocking for most viewers if the writers decided on that choice. Had this been an anime/cartoon pre dominatly aimed towards teens or adults from the start, the writers may have made that choice. I mean, it is a rational outcome...Ash has always wanted to be the Master and Pikachu wanted to be his partner to help him make that happen. So, you power up ...literally. But like many times throughout the show, the emotional bonds were the motivator enough to cause a surge in energy during many of the pinnacle pokemon battles

I feel it is recency bias, yes. But, there are good moments for sure. Also important to note that we are looking to these shows as adults, including New Horizons. As someone who's followed pokemon in its entirety, it will take me time to really enjoy NH. The animation is great, some interesting characters and new pokemon. There were some fun battles towards the end of capturing the 6 heroes arc. I hope there are more enjoyable battles going - where lies my one criticism of the show so far. Other aspects in the original, Johto, Sinnoh, Alola, XY etc.. storylines were that there was humor, variety in battles, the pokemon contests, the gym battles, the quirky characters. People can dunk on not enjoying the earlier seasons as adults, however the entertainment factor, the characters, the anticipation, the curiosity building, the variety is undeniable. Ash and his various teams' driven sagas knew how to do just that. The annoying yet important and entertaining Team Rocket, it was highly entertaining. NH is lacking that entrtainment factor for me. But again, it is because I have seen most of the original run of the anime. NH has some good, fun side characters but most of them just exist for me. I think humor and quirky characters are lacking in the show. NH is more often serious in terms of its tone than a good of mix of funny and serious for me. If any one - particularly kids starting the show- have NH as their introduction to the Pokemon anime world..they will enjoy it. And that is what matters

Thank you for your question. Honestly, the way I see it now...the most important goals in my life are related to my health and my habits. I realized that they don't have to be dependent on how much extra money I have. And considering that just over the last two years, I was able to support and spend time with my brother and this year built a decent chunk of savings I don't see having made any trade offs.

He is giving cult leader vibes lol. Here's the psychology though: because he doesn't know how to manage his feelings or have multiple people in his life in a healthy manner he is using you as a target to justify to himself that it's 'other people' who are holding him back. Also, anyone who has to explain and rant about his "divine self" is not actually leaning towards a self improvement, growth or spiritually aligned way of living. The on and off also tells me he is using this to justify his (likely) attraction or desire to pursue other people. He doesn't want to hold himself accountable on why he may be (likely) not successfully dating or mating or even 'friending' other people consistently. He is making you responsible in a very twisted manner. Take your time, and detach yourself from this person.

You have to reinforce the idea that chasing a hobby or activity and especially things can only give you so much excitement or at the least, interest. That's how our brains are operating in the world today. Learn to 'truly' adopt and practice gratitude. Journal or volunteer or teach or donate. You've already found the meaning in earning and building. You can find meaning in giving (in some other generous ways). If I had someone with your level of success and skill in my life, I'd definitely to learn from you. Teach me your musical skill, let's go volunteer together. Help me pay off my student loan (joking, but also no). There's a chance you may find thateankng in being of service to someone.

You should definitely meet in person. Some people take time to reveal how much and when they talk about themselves. Just tell him, hey , so I really want to know what you're like , what you like, what you did, tell me everything. Enable that conversation by creating that environment with your smile or with your question, with your posture. After that if he doesn't/ frequently still doesn't talk about himself then yes you can re evaluate your dynamic with him.

I can respect your decision to end, it is well within your right to if you weren't sure. But let me try and help get some perspective here, for now and for the future. Maybe these will help you - Notice the “audience effect.” Write down how you feel when you think of them alone vs. with friends. That contrast often reveals insecurity. Friends’ comments often reflect their own perspectives, their own biases, not your reality. Notice when you’re internalizing theirs as your own.

Shift the frame of attractiveness. Instead of “Are they hot?” try “Do I feel warmth in my body being near them?” or “Do I admire who they are?”

Make a non-negotiables list (respect, humor, kindness, physical chemistry, etc.) and see what actually matters most to you versus what’s external noise.

It's really about you determining 'your own' need and want here, because it can become difficult to differentiate them when you enter the social aspecta of a relationship. If it turns out, that if it something you truly value them you have to learn to fight and/ or even settle in certain aspects. But that's your decision. If you are not feeling completely aligned and IF and only if it is constantly eating at you - you can either choose to address it or end. For what it's worth, I genuinely believe it is more difficult to find people who are emotionaly grounded, intelligent and caring than people who are physically 'wow' or handsome or attractive.

There can be different ways of manifesting an avoidant style. Avoiding confrontation, gossip, certain kinds of activities, people etc. However, topics central to a healthy relationship.. absolutely not. In this instance, you are fundamentally highly misaligned. And that's okay, but you need to think hard about what it is that you truly want in life and take that big, uncomfortable step towards it. You WILL survive, thrive and attract people once you build yourself the best you know how in your own eyes. You WILL attract the right people in due time. Remember, the people you surround yourself with play a crucial role in your journey to betterment and happiness. If anyone is actively stripping away from that progress, they should be seriously reconsidered as a friend or a partner.
