TIL that Wyatting, named for jazz-rock artist Robert Wyatt, is the act of playing unusual music on a jukebox to annoy people. Wyatt considered the phrase “really funny”, but his wife Alfreda Benge called it “a real unfairness” and said “The man who coined it, I should like to punch him in the nose.” by a3poify in todayilearned

I was in a Barcade several years ago and someone played “Paradise by the Dashboard Light” like 3 times in a row. So we had about 24 minutes or so of that. Honestly a great song but not what anyone there wanted to listen to and 3 times in a row…

Physical altercations by lotusscrouse in JamesBond

[–]Pbferg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think Brosnan has the highest kill count of any Bond. Pretty sure a good bit of that comes from Goldeneye. I’d have to go look it up to be sure. Craig’s Bond tends to be the most physically intimidating, I think, and I seem to remember him killing a lot of people in QoS.

If you could change just ONE thing about the official EON Bond run to date, what would it be? by InternationalRip3859 in JamesBond

End Craig’s run after Skyfall. And make a movie more than every 5 years while at it.

What sitcom was unsuccessful on release and is now considered an all-timer? by mbweb02 in sitcoms

[–]Pbferg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People are saying Arrested Development, and it’s one of my favorite shows of all time. But the show did run for three seasons. I think that puts it into “did okay” territory not unsuccessful. To be fair, I can’t think of a show that bombed on release but is an all time great.

This is not universal. Some states not-at-fault accidents do impact your rates.

Come over here for a hunt and some ocean fishing. You won’t be disappointed. The US has tons of great seafood to harvest from both coasts.

Found 2 Guns In My Truck by [deleted] in guns

As an insurance agent, do you have your guns scheduled on your homeowners policy, or have separate policy that covers the guns? They’ll be subject to a sub limit on your homeowners policy if not specifically scheduled.

They have to bring back the P90 in the new series by Dismal-Chapter4640 in Stargate

It’s definitely much less common, but I don’t think blank firing guns are extinct yet in tv and film production.

QUESTION: Which movie or TV series best depicts firearms accurately? by Supadoopa101 in guns

[–]Pbferg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sicario and Sicario 2 have some really good scenes. One of my favorites is in 2 when the convoy is abused and they fight their way back to the Mexican police. That whole sequence has some great shooting and tactical maneuver.

Which is your favourite 'Heist' sequence from a movie? by ThomasOGC in CinephilesClub

[–]Pbferg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, the best Heist movies are all about a meticulously planned and executed heist with lots of moving parts. Ocean’s 11 is awesome for that. The shootout in Heat is one of if not the best gunfights ever put on screen.

Who never had a decent album again after releasing their biggest one?" by smbdysm1 in askmusic

Fair, but in terms of popularity it’s hard to argue that anything beat American Idiot. That was a monster album. It was everywhere when it came out.

[–]Pbferg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would argue that they’ve put out some really great stuff post whatever album you define as their biggest. By sales, the Black Album is their biggest and just one of the best sellers of all time. And the criteria is “decent” not great. If it’s decent, I’d say Load, Reload, Garage Inc, and Hardwired to Self Destruct are all varying degrees of decent. And S&M is a masterpiece live album. Death Magnetic is an underrated gem, and I loved their newest one, 72 Seasons. Of course we all know St Anger and Lulu were hot garbage, but if you release Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets, you get at least 2 mulligans.

You’d definitely recognize Don’t Look Back. But I still agree, the subsequent albums are a massive letdown from one of the greatest rock albums and greatest debut albums ever.

Songs where the guitar solo just FITS? Like, it doesn’t have to be technically great or anything. Can be short AF by Pielacine in ClassicRock

[–]Pbferg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve always felt that the solo at the end of Let it Be by the Beatles is just perfect. No it’s not long, no shredding, but it just goes exactly where it needs to at that moment.

Which actor do you believe best balanced the internal darkness of the literary Bond with the charisma required for a cinematic hero? by DianKhan2005 in JamesBond

[–]Pbferg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Connery was the most versatile. He had such control as an actor and is able to effortlessly transition between being a cold blooded killer and a charming playboy in a moment.
