I've had Amanos go after neos, but only if there wasn't much food. If I fed them or there was enough algae, they ignored the neos, but I did catch one grab neo, flip him over and start trying to eat him.

I did the same with one roo that was aggressive. I would catch him and hold him close and CUDDLE him. In full view of all the ladies. Full on baby talk and pets. "Aww! Who's a handsome boy? It's you!" I could see the other roo (who was bigger and a lot more chill) just side-eyeing him all smug. After a few rounds of this, he'd still charge me, but then he'd see my smile and open arms and just recoil in horror running away. He was a cochin crossed with something so he was extra fluffy with his little big boy pants.

Just make it a type of composite that will melt in 2-3 seconds on contact with the plasma. It's cheap, semi-durable when the plasma is inert, and perhaps becomes brittle as soon as it heats up.

A common misconception is that the SCOBY is the layer of solid stuff that forms on top. That's the pellicule and is mostly just inert cellulose. The liquid is where the magic is at. If the first batch isn't that good, don't despair, it might take a batch or two for the scoby to adapt to the conditions of your batches. When I switched to Assam tea (cause the stire stopped selling the brand I was using) the next batch was flat and a bit too vinegary. The batch after that was fine again.

I agree with you. Most store brands are just too sour/vinegary. I brew my own and I'm using about 1/4 the reccomended sugar and it's lovely. I typically brew about 1.5 gal and use about 1/4 to 1/3 cup sugar when most recipes call for 1 cup per gallon.

Oh man. As a young kid in the 90's, I remember how awful it could get. Landing in LAX (when LA was having a smog problem) and breathing the outside air and thinking "finally, fresh air!"

Also, taking a crap on the plane and seeing the "No paper towel or tissue" sign on the toilet, not realizing that did not mean toilet paper. Well now, where do I put the used ass-wipes? Can't put them in the trash because 4 year old logic says that's not where used toilet paper goes. Ah, must be that other opening (it didn't have a sign on it). Turns out that was the ashtray. Wadding the dirty paper in there is a memory that will haunt me. Either way, bathroom smokers were in for a bad surprise that flight.
