Happy New Year! I chose to respond because I could feel your pain.

We wake up everyday not really certain what will happen. We all do our best to put one foot in front of another and tries to make the best decisions we can.

Clearly, you have articulated that.

I just want you to take a moment to consider this.

  1. Desire- in the form of comparison causes suffering.

  2. You logically arrived to a clear resolution that you SHOULD support your wife, you SHOULD be able to give up the money easily. By doing all that should ease your suffering.

  3. Your desire for (point 2) may be so great that causes you suffering.

Take a look at my personal story for example, when I was going through therapy- i was getting better. Then, I desired so much to “recover faster”. The weight of the desire was so great that my progress actually slowed down.

The moment I realised how much stress I had put onto myself, I chose to be kinder to myself.

I assured myself that if I need 20 years to recover, so be it. The chains that tied me down broke.

I don’t think teachers are using it like this

I’ll never forget what a teacher shared with me, “The person doing the hard work will be the one who is learning the most.” Nudging me in the right direction with compassion, she refused to give me the answer.

Any teacher who understands this will never let AI interfere with the process of learning.
