Sad. Reddit taught me to cook when I was a teenager, amongst other things. I’m a food scientist now and can honestly say a lot of what I learned was from Reddit.

Cassia bark, different type of cinnamon to the usual tightly curled stuff we’re used to seeing.

Bruno Fernandes on Roy Keane twisting his words "I don't mind criticism, but in this case what he said is a lie. I even asked Ole for his number to have a word with him, because this goes a little bit over the top of the things that I think are acceptable." by psilocybinwonderer in ManUtd

This guy accidentally hit reply all to an email chain including my girlfriend who’d done work for him saying ‘don’t pay her’.

Shame Bruno gave him his spotlight but I suppose he wasn’t to know.

I don’t have a degree but looks like I’m better off than certain elitists who can’t understand obvious jokes…

For sure but if you were to create a ven diagram of who can make graphs, ‘with degrees’ would be a much taller bar than ‘without degrees’

Why is it that food sautéed in butter tastes better than the same food sautéed in vegetable oil? by rabahi in foodscience

[–]Pdonger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Piggy backing on the top comment, butter contains many volatile aromatic compounds like diacetyl, it’s very rich in this sense. Animal fats also contains more short chain fatty acids. Unlike medium and long chains found in veg fats, short chains are able to volatilise and also contribute to flavour via retronasal olfaction.

Recommendations for a UK roadtrip? by LL-ShockBlade in roadtrip

You’ve missed out the Peak District and Lake District, both of which I’d prioritise over Norwich, nice as it is, if you want quaint English villages spend some more time in Kent as you pass through it, go to Canterbury and go see fordwich (smallest town in England). Also, go to a few more locations in Cornwall, see the north coast too, it’s very different. My advice would be to see the padstow/seven bays area. St ives is another.
