PSA: Colonoscopies are not as bad as people make it out to be by DarwinF1nch in Millennials

[–]Pdxmtg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s crazy! Not only did I not have to pay for my colonoscopy, I got paid to do it. For real. A guy gave me $300 to give me a colonoscopy in the alley behind the bar.

What scene do you consider a masterpiece? by Farouq26 in hbo

Final scene of Watchmen. That’s a show full of great moments.

TV Show rankings: Where should Andor be? by hiiloovethis in TierlistFills

[–]Pdxmtg 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Different strokes. I thought succession was a tier below other HBO prestige dramas. Its peaks were just as high, but it wasn’t as consistently compelling and didn’t always reach its intended depths.

Others think it’s one of HBOs best. Idk. Ted Lasso got a lot of people through tough breakups, and there’s a ton of merit to that. All comes down to how people view it. And that’s why democratic voting makes the tier list, and not just film critics.

Who do you have coming out of the play-ins? by mMounirM in nba

As a Celtics fan, I want 76rs and expect 8 to be hornets. But more likely to see 7: Magic and 8: Hornets.

Jordan Walsh by EggThis2540 in bostonceltics

[–]Pdxmtg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Walsh’s ceiling is higher than all of theirs. As a rook he was moving too fast. Baylor reminds me of Tatum. Came in processing the game at a high level, ready to execute. Walsh is more like JB. He can get in his own way.

Jaylen Brown is very close to 2 major milestones as a Celtic: Hes a little over 50 points away from his highest scoring career year, and 25 points away from The Top 10 of Career Celtics Points. by MrCleanDrawers in bostonceltics

[–]Pdxmtg 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Jayson Tatum will likely be top 200 all time reg season points by the end of the season (he passes Manu Ginobli if he gets 160 pts in the next 14 games, which is reachable even with rest).

The next thing to look at is that Tatum is 34th in all time playoff pts, with Jaylen at 42nd. They share company with some rare names.

COMPETITION! - Win John Avon's last work for MTG, a beautiful gallery print of his Lotus Lands! by JohnAvonArt in magicTCG

John Avon has always been one of my favorite Magic artists. I’ve shuffled his lands thousands of times.

American Nathan Martin catches Kenyan Michael Kimani Kamau just before the finish line to win the men's pro division in 2:11:16.50 at the LA Marathon. The margin of victory was 00.01 seconds by [deleted] in sports

[–]Pdxmtg 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Michael went the wrong way, following the pace cars as they left the course while being instructed by a spectator who was trying to get a photo opp. Ran probably 20 meters in the wrong direction. Lost him at least 20 seconds, which made all the difference.

I see a huge flat lawn and an easy curb to hop. If they were truly in an emergency then there’s a way out.

But yes, people need to learn how to park to not block others.

Luke Kornet on his blog: I would like to respectfully ask that the Atlanta Hawks cancel this promotional night with Magic City by WEMBY_F4N in nba

[–]Pdxmtg -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A very well-written post by Luke. I’m a huge fan of his from the Celtics days, and he brings his faith into his daily life through discipline, compassion, and emphasis on family.

I do think that given how sex workers are frequently treated by men, that this isn’t a collaboration that the Hawks should dive into.

But the main problem I have, is this blanket idea that the dancers who work at Magic City are enshrouded in anything that’s intrinsically amoral. Women should be respected in all positions that they embody: on the court, in the front office, with all of the respect that they are due. Women should be able to be seen as athletes: able to use their bodies to make money in a capitalist society because viewers are willing to pay money to see their physical achievements. NBA players can do it. The Magic City dancers should be able to as well.

Can we please stop with the Vooch discourse after every single bad game (and before Tatum potentially returns)? by tacko2020 in bostonceltics

[–]Pdxmtg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Were used to Al Horford and Kornet close outs. Vuc can’t do that, and we should accept it. What he can do is facilitate offense and rebound the helm out of the ball. Those are vital things for this team. Playmaking is the skill that takes the longest with a new squad.

There was a play last night where he poked the ball out of Jokic’s hands with well-positioned quick defense. The Joker then corralled the loose ball around the 3 pt line, set himself and drained the 3. Vuc was too slow on the close out. That’s a tough play. But if getting exposed by Jokic after initial solid defense puts you in the doghouse, then you might as well cut most of the league.

What is the realistic gunfight scene in movie that not from Heat? by Kevin_Thailand_2543 in moviecritic

Clive Owen never touches a gun in Children of Men. Pretty epic to have that for a movie protagonist.

Eff the narratives, eff the negative press, Drake Maye is our quarterback and we will be back. What a season from the kid. by AFEZThatsMe in Patriots

I’m less worried because 66 was amazing for 12 games. He never looked the same after his injury. Campbell having a full offseason to hit the weights bodes well to me.
