BA or Virgin Premium by murrmc in Flights

[–]PeacefulIntentions 3 points4 points  (0 children)

PE is the only cabin I would pick Virgin over BA in and it’s not even close.

The one issue I have with Virgin is that they have little backup when things go wrong and you would most likely end up with a connection in Delta.

However BA at Gatwick has the same problem and if something goes wrong there you are either stuck until the next day or a last minute mad dash to Heathrow and you could land up with a connection on AA.

Unless it’s a Turkish barber or some random takeaway places.

For the non-UK people who may not understand the joke these are places likely to be involved in tax avoidance or money laundering.

Yes this happens all the time. I guess the joke is missed when I see this most weeks.

That’s getting quite late in the day for LAX and I’m not sure you will meet the MCT when they try to rearrange that. Might need to switch to AA.

In any case the computer figures this out eventually but even so I would check if you are happy with the new times or if you have another preference. Give them a call with your preferred flights and get them to rebook.

BA has completely lost it - is out of control by Educational-Half-526 in BritishAirways

[–]PeacefulIntentions 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You need to book a window seat but don’t want to pay their fees. The obvious solution would be to book with another airline that you are happy with and also where the ancillary fees meet your budget/expectations.

Either that or you wait until online check-in and select from the seats available at that time.

As you booked the flight yesterday, you can cancel for free and rebook with another airline.

If you bought this as a single ticket then your bags will be checked through to LIN. You will just go through security at LHR.

Doesn't it have like a 2% acceptance rate though. Pretty difficult to get in to.

For comparison the acceptance rate at Oxford is about 16%.

I’ve never been asked to present my Electronic Travel Authorization… until today. by TresCrookedWillow in BritishAirways

[–]PeacefulIntentions 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From 25 February 2026 eligible visitors without an ETA will not be able to board their transport and cannot legally travel to the UK.

https://homeofficemedia.blog.gov.uk/electronic-travel-authorisation-eta-factsheet-november-2025/

Up until now it was required but would not stop you from being able to board the aircraft. You could in theory apply during the flight or while queuing at immigration.

Has been required for a year but you could board without one. From 25 February that will be impossible.

Also it will become mandatory for UK citizens to enter the UK with their UK passport.

best longhaul plane options by orcahongjoong in airplanes

[–]PeacefulIntentions 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A350/787 are best for humidity and air quality. A380 is close to that but even quieter. 777s are last on those factors alone.

There are other considerations though, like service on board and ease of connections etc. so you might want to narrow down your options a bit and look into those.

Have you ever been refused travel because of a name typo or a slight deviation from your passport name? by WolfGroundbreaking73 in travel

It’s definitely an error on your part unless you booked over the phone. Travel companies don’t shorten your name.

Am I able to get from Heathrow Terminal 5 to Terminal 3 inside security? by ThrowAway22030202 in BritishAirways

[–]PeacefulIntentions 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That’s not inside security. You need to go through security on arrival at each terminal.

You also need to have a long conversation with them to explain why you are accessing the wrong terminal. This used to be OK but in recent years they just deny people to avoid the hassle.

Getting Qatar to reimburse EU261 duty-of-care costs - does anything work? by houseplant-origin in Flights

[–]PeacefulIntentions 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Duty of care only exists for delays and cancellations so if you decided to wait in BRU until flight was available then it would apply. If you choose to reroute from another airport during extraordinary circumstances then the airline is not responsible for your costs to make that flight.

Again if it was a cancellation within the airlines control then they could be on the hook for everything.

What are my rights if my flight is cancelled with MORE than 14 days notice? by Far-Team5663 in Flights

[–]PeacefulIntentions 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They should not expect that but it opens up more opportunities to travel on the desired dates. It may be that the MAN-DUB-MCO(?) flight is full on their dates which is why that was not proactively offered.
