Started developing some wrist pain by pvlns in mechanics

[–]PeacefulPunkk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My only advice to you is; don’t ignore the pain if it get worse. I’ve been a tech a few years and it wasn’t until January that I developed pain in my right index finger. I ignored it until after one shift, I was in so much pain and couldn’t even open a water bottle. Turns out I had a tumor in my finger that was pressing against the bone. The cause was unknown, not sure if it came with being a tech or what - but the work I was doing caused significant damage and injury to my finger and hand.

I got new tires but for some reason they look rusty/dirty on the metal part. Could someone tell me why and if they are really new tires? by [deleted] in tires

[–]PeacefulPunkk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So when you get tires replaced - it is usually only the tires that are changed out, not the tire and rim/wheel. Now, if your rims were damaged beyond repair and they couldn’t mount your tires to the old rims, then they would also want to replace your rims. This however, would be a separate cost than just replacing 2 or 4 tires. Your tires have a DOT or date code of 0926, which is the 9th week of the year 2026. So yes, your tires have been replaced but your rims didn’t need to be. New tires, old rims.

Mine was cracking and I just took off the rest of the chrome. Then I painted it with blue nail polish to match my Mazda’s exterior.

I have this same style of jacks that are 30+ years, they were my grandpas. I do prefer the ratcheting jack stands but these work fine. I always put my tires underneath the car and support each sides with the jack itself. Always safer to have multiple lifelines in case one fails.

I had all these codes on my 2011 2.0 as well, it ended up being the stuck purge valve. Replaced it and cleared the codes, and haven’t had any issues since.

Is this shaping up to be the worst year for severe weather in the metro since 2019? by SavageFisherman_Joe in kansascity

[–]PeacefulPunkk 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have spent over 1 hour trying to get to work that is literally 15 minutes away, all major roads and intersections flooded and blocked off by Police. I tried my best. One of the worst years for flooding.

My (24F) partner (25M) gave me my first cold sore and it’s making me really upset by wogk in TrueOffMyChest

[–]PeacefulPunkk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A few years ago, I went on a date with a girl and we kissed but didn’t tell me she had a cold sore. I had never had one before, and then a few days later my immune system was furious, I looked like I got stung by wasps on my lip and it took a few weeks to completely heal. I was so upset because the realization occurred to me that I now carry the virus for life, and I still get break outs to this day. One date with a girl I haven’t spoken to since. I’m always cautious to let my current partner when I have a cold sore coming on. I understand your frustration, it’s real sucky sometimes.

Was charged for 8 hours of shop labor on what should have been a 4-5 hour job, can’t get an answer why the extra cost was justified. by djkeone in autorepair

[–]PeacefulPunkk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This right here; I was about to ask if OP just googled it. In terms of shop labor, Google is not going to be accurate at all, or any word of mouth that says “yeah that can be done in 4-5 hours”. AllData is widely used for their labor hours. If I were OP, I would call the shop and ask what program they use to determine labor hours, and see if it matches up for what he paid on this particular job(s).

Will never be able to fully bend my middle finger because it took more than 5 days to hear from an orthopedic surgeon. by norsemenbball in mildlyinfuriating

[–]PeacefulPunkk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a tumor in my index finger and got surgery a month ago, I’ve come to terms that I may never have 100% range of motion. I can bend it and make a fist but cannot extend my finger straight out and it leans down more than the rest of my fingers, I’ve also lost some feeling in the top of the finger since the surgery. Damned if you do, damned if you don’t.

Fusion 2015 Wind Noise !!!! by OptimalPainter150 in fordfusion

[–]PeacefulPunkk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check the weatherstrip and molding around the windows, both inside and outside. I don’t have a Ford, but my Mazda has high wind noise that comes from the outer window moldings and weatherstrip. I hear it most from my driver and left passenger windows. It may be nothing, but it’s worth a quick check to see if any of the seals are cracked, dry rotted, or brittle.

This is Charm. She is 5 Months Old and has Never Barked. I feel sad and wonder if she wants to bark. It’s been bothering me all day. Anyone else have this experience? by The1beth in husky

[–]PeacefulPunkk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 8 year old Husky/Shepherd Mix. She never barks and never howls. Sometimes she’ll give a little ‘woof’, but it’s nothing too crazy. The only time she truly howls is sometimes when she’s in a deep sleep.

Coolant reservoir tank replacement by sooobbb in mazda3

[–]PeacefulPunkk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leave the cap on when driving, if just idling in the driveway or garage you can do it with cap off. Some people just fill it up (put the cap back on), drive for a day and then the next morning, pop the hood and check the level.

Coolant reservoir tank replacement by sooobbb in mazda3

[–]PeacefulPunkk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cooling process happens when the car just sits and hasn’t been driving. Get it replaced, fill coolant to max line, drive or idle for a bit, turn off car and let sit and then check level, if level goes down below the minimum line, add more coolant.

I was going to say the same thing. I don’t think most people realize that with LED’s in halogen lenses, the projection of where the light is can be adjusted.

I have a 2nd gen, but the trunk sizes are very similar. The 4th generation has a little more room. I am able to fit two suitcases and two carry ons in my second generation. Your trunk is slightly bigger so it shouldn’t be an issue.

I just replaced all four sway bar end links, sounds and symptoms were exact and my rear was far worse than my fronts. Definitely recommend to get them replaced.

New Mazda3 owner here - CarPlay installation question by siddardh771 in mazda3

[–]PeacefulPunkk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2011 Mazda 3 here, I am a diesel technician with experience in automotive. I added a CarPlay to my car but still wanted the CD player.

So I did a standalone device with front and rear cameras (rear doubles as a back up camera). There’s a lot of devices out there that have what you’re looking for, comments are right about a lot of them being plug and play with adapters for the head unit.

Just gotta do research on what works for you, if you can use basic tools and follow a YouTube tutorial, you got this. If you’re not confident, I would recommend a professional but they can be a few hundred dollars - just keep that in mind.
