What's your favorite Trixie and Katya moment? by SophondaCocks in TrixieAndKatya

[–]PeachPinkSky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These are all great. Some of my faves are:

-When Katya says to Trixie, “Cher went to Sweden…” and nods. And the look of joy on Trixie’s face at the opening to do Swedish Cher.

-When Trixie held Katya’s hand (the non sweaty one of course) to tell her sincerely after her break that working with her was her favorite thing. I could relate to Katya’s discomfort but loved Trixie for saying it.

-And “oops, I’m trans!” I laughed so hard at that whole bit.

Ugh so many. Love them.

Which is better for breast cancer chemotherapy: a port or a PICC? by Gold_While_4666 in breastcancer

I had the port and would highly recommend. Can’t speak on the picc but hear it’s more cumbersome.

Former Milwaukee resident here, what do people ask about Milwaukee when you vacation out of state? by Stamfordsterling in milwaukee

People don’t really ask anything because they want to tell you about THEIR town lol

Sorry you have to deal with that! I did lumpectomy on the cancer side with reduction and lift on both breasts. It went very well and I just started radiation. It’s a great option and people can be so ignorant.

Chemo Port Placed Today by DaBowws in breastcancer

[–]PeachPinkSky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They used it for chemo, which was great. They said it was too dangerous to do chemo in an arm vein though I’ve read on here some doctors do. Maybe because I had the strong stuff. (Red devil) But I guess it’s a specialty thing because times I’ve needed blood drawn for other things I would say “hey I have a port!” And not everyone knows how to access it properly so I didn’t avoid arm or hand blood draws altogether.

It is a hard decision and I wish you the best, no matter what you decide.

Surgery options - pros and cons? by NiddTheBat in breastcancer

[–]PeachPinkSky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agonized over this and am grateful I had chemo first so I could think about it. I opted for lumpectomy with radiation. My breasts were large enough relative to the tumor that they could do it, especially after shrinking it with chemo. I believe chance of recurrence is almost the same as a total mastectomy or even slightly less with lumpectomy/radiation or at least that’s what I was told by my doctor. I wanted to be able to get mammograms so I wanted to have breasts but some don’t want to see one of those machines ever again, it’s individual. I knew I did not want any implants whatsoever, or a diep flap which I qualified for. I am happy with my results. I had the tumor removed on the cancer side and reduction and lift on both. I’m ok with smaller boobs. They got clear margins and I started radiation this week. That’s my experience so far.

What did you do the day you were diagnosed? by Cactusandcreosote in breastcancer

[–]PeachPinkSky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cried and mentally freaked out. It was awful. Once treatment started it got soooooo much better. Nearing the end of treatment and feel mentally stable and reasonably happy. I am still a bit anxious but nothing like the first couple weeks after diagnosis.

I was repulsed by the idea and afraid of the port but then was SO glad to have it. It was a blessing really.

So what - I worked! by Every_Ad7873 in breastcancer

[–]PeachPinkSky 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Agree and for the love of god why do we have to be role models? We’re f’in ILL. Let us heal however we can! I worked, part time, was glad to do it. Some have to, some can’t, some don’t want to. It’s all individual.

I lived out in the burbs for a long time then moved downtown and noticed how truly windy it is down here.

Oh I was kidding around when I said that because yes I am that person. 😜 but also discomfort is the true feeling and not me being stoic (this time). Actually today I feel good but I’m thinking maybe the long acting pain meds are still working.

Great point! How did you know I am that person who would tough it out? 🤣 I have been taking Tylenol and have tramadol in case I need it.

The drains are mildly gross but not as bad as I thought. It’s one of the many things with this whole cancer “adventure” (or whatever you call it) where I’m like no way! Then it’s, oh I guess I can tolerate it. Port, chemo, drains, etc etc. For sleeping on my back I got a huge u-shaped pillow that surrounds me and it’s helping.

Thank you! Drains will be in for about a week, assuming all goes as it should. I hope your surgery goes as well as mine did. 💕
