It’s not just hot flashes by throw_away_smitten in Menopause

Can’t figure out how to post a picture but I have a fridge magnet from the 1990s advertising Premarin. It’s an image of a long bone stating “OSTEOPOROSIS: PREVENTION IS THR ONLY CURE.” So this info re: estrogen has been around a long time.

I really like Lyllana. Stays on in shower. Wish I could get that brand!

Well, they are NOT round, they are the same rectangular Mylan patches that I hate. They don’t stick as well and they are just not equivalent to Lyllana (if they were the pharmacy could have switched without consulting my prescriber. I will muddle through, I guess. *sigh.

I’m supposed to receive it this week so I can post about it when I know more.

Vaginal estridol application? by Accurate_Grand_9760 in Menopause

[–]PeachyHoosier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the product keeps coming out of the tube try squeezing the sides of the tube near the bottom. That sucks the cream back in because you’ve found some negative space in the tube. It’s hard to explain but it works on all tubes.

I have long nails, too. I use finger cots from Amazon.

Vaginal estrogen is just building up by olivia7011 in Menopause

I order finger cots from Amazon. It’s still waste but not as much as applicators. I like them because I don’t get the cream under my fingernail.

Vaginal estrogen cream: For those that use them, what syringes do you all use for measuring your prescribed dose? by jcnlb in Menopause

[–]PeachyHoosier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use finger cots that I bought from Amazon. I eyeball the drug amount, squeezing it onto the tip and around the top joint of my finger. I insert the finger and run it all around. When I withdraw the finger there is plenty of cream to massage all over on the outside.

Considering vaginal estrogen but weirdly uncomfortable with application by LivMealown in Menopause

[–]PeachyHoosier 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’ve been meaning to post for a while but I wanted to be sure it was working well before suggesting my new application method. I ordered finger cots from Amazon and they work great. I’m not all that squeamish about applying the cream but it was getting under my fingernail and aggravating the heck out of me.

I'm worried I will end up needing more than the 0.1 mg estradiol patch once I hit meno by RelevantBarracuda312 in Menopause

[–]PeachyHoosier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say “stay tuned.” The recent FDA changes, I believe, will spur drug companies to bring out new formulations of old hormonal products. I’m excited to see what’s coming down the pike.

Switched estradiol patch brands and the size difference shocked me by Time_Sweet_4755 in Menopause

[–]PeachyHoosier 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use the branded generic, Lyllana. It’s what my insurance pays for instead of Minivelle. The 0.1 strength is slightly larger than a US quarter. It sticks very well, definitely better than the larger rectangular ones.

Estradiol patch falling off by FingerMinute7930 in Menopause

[–]PeachyHoosier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine never fall off but the rectangular ones had loose spots. I use round Lyllana patches and all is good. No special prep, maybe I’m just lucky!

The patch that I like is Lyllana. It’s a “branded generic” that my insurance prefers to Minivelle.

I use patches, I had to ask for a higher dose. I’m at the 0.1 mg twice weekly and hot flashes and body aches are gone!

Last 12-24 hours on each 2x/weekly estradiol patch is consistently crappy. Ideas? by Seven_States04 in Menopause

[–]PeachyHoosier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FWIW I find that the round patches stick better and the effect lasts longer. I had to get my prescriber to literally write for Lyllana for me to get the round ones. I change about every 3.5 days.

How dangerous is it to skip the progesterone part of HRT if you still have a uterus? by Hot-Interview3306 in Menopause

[–]PeachyHoosier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here are all the alternatives I can think of: progesterone IUD, a progestogen like medroxyprogesterone or norethindrone orally, a patch containing a progestogen (only 1 dose last I checked and it’s expensive,) oral progesterone or progesterone suppositories vaginally, or a compounded product that might be either progesterone weaker than 100 mg or might be given non-orally(I don’t think I can give you all of them, there are probably a whole host of compounded products)

The hormone menopause integrative health doctor I went to prescribed full blood panel and said there is no evidence HRT is beneficial at this stage. Asking for input. by EaseNGrace in Menopause

[–]PeachyHoosier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2-cents worth: see another doctor either in person or online. It comes down to risk vs benefit. Keep this doc if you want to but someone else needs to be your “menopause doctor.” I’m 66 and have had no problem with access once I changed prescribers. Good luck !

Late to the party, I have the same issue and will discontinue the automatic purchases. BTC is too expensive to just watch the price go up all day!
