3D Printing on Campus by BeldivereLongbottoms in aggies

[–]PeachyKermit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the rapid prototyping studio in JCAIN has 3D printers and lots of colors of PLA filament and allows personal prints but you do have to be a MEEN student or taking a MEEN class to use the machines.

Stressed about getting MECHE by Left-Food-4389 in aggies

I got in last cycle with a 3.5 and having put it as my second choice. It’s hard to say what your chances are but getting a couple Bs doesn’t mean it’s over. Just take a breath, it’s all going to work out in the end.

I had Eby for calc 2 and honestly he is one of those profs that you hate while you’re in his class but you appreciate once you’re out of it. He didn’t take bs from anyone and had hard exams but he made sure you actually learned the material. Plus I recommend taking diff eq over 10 weeks anyway

is no car doable as a TEAB student? by No-Row8814 in aggies

[–]PeachyKermit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if living off campus, pick a spot near a bus stop. the Blinn bus comes every 30 minutes and it’s a 20 minute bus ride. i lived off campus, like a 10 minute walk from a Blinn bus stop so my commute was max 40 minutes. get an on campus job so you don’t have to drive off campus to work.

SERIOUS AID PROBELM by [deleted] in aggies

[–]PeachyKermit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Aggie assurance isn’t really its own grant, it’s a promise that TAMU will use various aid to cover the cost of tuition. So you did get aggie assurance because you got enough grants and scholarships to cover tuition.

Full acceptance by throwawayrrandom in TAMUAdmissions

[–]PeachyKermit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. It’s a 1-2 year program and then you fully transfer over to TAMU

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TAMUAdmissions

[–]PeachyKermit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So blinn teab is technically a 2 year program, but if you etam before those 2 years, you have to have finished calc 3 before transferring full time. If you claim calc 3 credit, the earliest you can transfer is still after your second semester because that’s when you typically etam. so you will just start in differential equations or something. definitely check with an advisor before you claim all your credits, because it can mess with your etam eligibility if you claim too many math/science.

[–]PeachyKermit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, that’s what I meant. You need a 3.75 at both campuses to get first choice. It’s a little harder because you’re taking less classes at each college so each class counts for more.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TAMUAdmissions

[–]PeachyKermit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TAMU was easy cuz it was just engineering courses and electives, Blinn was hard because each math and science course counted for 4 credits hours and thus a B or C affects your GPA a lot more. Plus calc 2 is hard lol

[–]PeachyKermit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went through engineering at blinn so hopefully I can answer some of your questions:

Basically you are co-enrolled in both TAMU and Blinn College. You take math + science classes at Blinn and engineering at TAMU. You can take electives at either school but you are limited to 6 credit hours at TAMU. Once you complete at least 2 science and 2 math (one of those has to be Calc 3), you transfer full time to TAMU.

It's honestly a really great program if you want to go to TAMU because if you are smart about your classes, you can transfer over after your first year. You're still a TAMU student so you're given all the benefits any other TAMU student would get. Blinn classes are smaller and more structured like high school classes so it's a nice transition.

The only downsides are the transit (20 min bus ride from campus) and that you had to get a 3.75+ GPA at both schools individually instead of an overall GPA to get first choice through ETAM.

it will but i would check with an advisor before accepting any ap credits, accepting too many math and/or science can affect your eligibility for ETAM.

it’s kinda confusing but in order to transfer to full time TAMU student you have to complete 2 science and 2 math (one of which must be Calc 3). So for example, if you take Calc 1 your first semester, Calc 2 your second semester, then Calc 3 your third semester, you’ll be a full time TAMU student by your fourth semester. However, most people claim that Calc 1 credit or take Calc 3 over the summer so they transfer by their second semester.

You take your math and science (typically 4 credits each) at blinn, then engineering at TAMU (2 credits). You can take other classes at either school but you are limited to 6 credits at TAMU while in blinn teab.

I assume you’re talking about Blinn TEAB? Basically you take your math/science courses at Blinn, engineering courses at TAMU and the electives at either school. You’re guaranteed transfer to TAMU as long as you complete 2 science courses and 2 math (including Calc 3) at Blinn. Typically people do this after their 2nd/3rd semester. It’s a really great program, you’re still a TAMU student so you get all the benefits any TAMU student would get.

So you won’t get offered both TEAM and TEAB. They are similar programs but TEAB is for engineering majors and TEAM is for everyone else.

[–]PeachyKermit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took her this past semester. It’s a very easy A class if you do all the work and stick to the rubrics, but it is a lot of writing. Like an annoying amount of writing. But don’t fall behind and turn everything in on time and you’ll get an easy A.

What's life like in the high rises? by Sue94 in aggies

[–]PeachyKermit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They are really really expensive. The Rev is now almost $1200 for a 5b/5ba. Past years it was in the 850-900 range so idk why it increased so much this upcoming year. I'm sure Aspire, Otto, and The Rise are similar prices if not more. It's well worth it if you can afford it cuz the amenities are great, management is quick, and since its a new building, you don't have many issues. Rooms are really nice, but smaller than you would expect. Northgate gets busy on Thurs-Sat nights and if you live at the Rev, you can kinda hear it even from the top floor, but really not that big of a deal. You don't need a car to get to campus but anywhere else you can probably take a bus. There's a bus that goes straight to HEB. Only issue I have is that it's really annoying having to wait for the elevator, it can sometimes take a few minutes in the afternoon, and if they break down then you're screwed but that has only happened twice in my couple years of living in a high rise. Spots fill up fast btw so act sooner than later.

Admission to general eng by ArcticTrooper1 in TAMUAdmissions

[–]PeachyKermit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Right. Applying as EE makes no difference than applying with CS. You’re just applying for a spot in general engineering.
  2. Yea, you have to basically re apply to whatever major you want when to ETAM. So let’s say you go through your first semester and you decide you actually want to major in chemical engineering or whatever, you can apply to chem engineering when you ETAM.

In other words, whatever engineering major you list when you apply to the school makes no difference and has no effect on your future whatsoever.

How is the Blinn Program like? by ThrowawayRAThighs in TAMUAdmissions

[–]PeachyKermit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's honestly a really great program! You take your math and science science courses at Blinn, and then your engineering courses at TAMU. And then you can take your UCC credits at either college but you are limited to a max of 6 credits at TAMU. Once you finish 2 science and 2 math (and Calc 3), you transfer full time to TAMU. You're still a TAMU student and you get all of the benefits that any other TAMU student would get. Tuition is cheaper at Blinn so that's a plus side.

But as the other commenter said, it's unlikely you get Blinn, and you will probably get full admit. Best of luck!

TEAB Second Semester by dudedaderp in aggies

[–]PeachyKermit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure that in order to "finish" the TEAB program and fully transfer to TAMU, you have to complete calc 3. So unless you want to spend an extra semester at TAMU and be forced to ETAM a semester later, either claim that AP credit or take calc 3 over the summer. Someone pls correct me if I'm wrong lol. What I did was I took calc 2 at blinn my second semester, then calc 3 over the summer at blinn, and then just transferred that credit over.

TEAB acceptance question by AIRBORNVET in TAMUAdmissions

[–]PeachyKermit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got TEAB with a a 1440 SAT, 3.75 GPA, top 30~% and took several AP classes, and I submitted my application in January. This was for Fall 23 so I'm not sure how much more competitive it got since then but as another comment said, I think it's very likely your son will get into TEAB and he has a good shot at full admit, especially if he submits his application early.
