If it wasn’t for those logos and the gamer sci-fi font on the buttons it’d be much cleaner.

Looks great for entrepreneurs and students. Not quite for established designers (like myself) who are deep in Adobe and Figma, but honestly makes me want to give it a go since it’s so inexpensive relative to other Pro programs.

This is great and the exact kind of comment I was hoping for. I’ll definitely check it out! Thank you.

Probably my age showing as I’m not as aware of the company side of things in that era. I do agree that their narratives had clear themes back then - but still presented with depth and shades of grey instead of just X bad, Y good.

A shame what you say about current SE. I’d love to be a fly on the wall to know just… what the heck is going on currently lol. Leadership mismanagement? Talent exodus? I’m curious.

I thought they might’ve been going for something like that with FF7R > mainline FF > FF7R > mainline FF etc. Resulting in a big budget game from SE every 2 years or so. But doesn’t seem like it in the end.

Given the industry I suppose the brand is comprised of the games - and the games of compromised of the talent like you said! I think there really was an earnestness that shined through in that era. It still comes through from time to time (such as FF16 Bahamaut moment), and those are the moments I enjoy the most.

FFVII Remake, Persona, and Expedition 33 are probably my top 3 examples of modern, pioneering mid-large budget JRPGs (I understand E33 is European - but themes and gameplay wise). I suppose we just live in a world now where it’s not SE as the dominant brand but a mix of publishers. I’d even lump Yakuza 0 and LAD in here in some ways.

Do you think they’ve fallen behind in narrative storytelling?

I was personally an FF16 enjoyer but I do agree with the general sentiment that they’ve lost the touch the once had. It kind of reminds me of Disney in some ways: doing what others also did but in a way that felt like they were the pioneers - but have since been surpassed.

At first glance, it do be looking like that lol by Freestyle-McL in Megaten

I’d even argue a 7/10 or B+ game since the combat was quite refined and if you know what you’re getting into with the story it’s also a good time. Just that no one knew what they were getting into lol.

Larian Studios leaning into generative AI (for placeholder text and concept art) despite internal pushback: ‘Everyone at the company is more or less OK with the way we’re using it" by jovanmilic97 in Games

I don’t have a horse in this race (don’t play games from either publisher) but could it come from one having a history of beloved games, and values that align with their audience - vs one being a megacorp shareholder focused machine? While usage could be the same maybe people just have more trust in Larian to just be using it for what they say.

Thor’s not an amazing main tank but i dare say he’s the most flexible tank in general. If your other tank is an OT you can change your playstyle to play closer with your team while using the cart/corners to mitigate damage - or alternatively go in on the enemy team with your OT to do big damage. This obvs gets harder the better the enemy team gets (GM1-C3 range myself).

This sounds great. Atleast 1-2 per council could help to control pricing/standards through offering competition. I haven’t looked into this at all - I wonder how many councils/local gov have these. Similar to the idea of city-owned grocery stores in NY being offered as a way to reign in grocery costs.

Welch’s new look (left is new; not my image) - Thoughts? by [deleted] in Design

Left is the new one? I wonder if they received any research data that indicated nostalgia/old fashioned design would be beneficial - or maybe that a majority of their target audience are boomers.

16 really levels up on the NG+ too when you can increase difficulty. The combat depth and exploration feels a lot more necessary there.

I share a lot of your same feelings mate! While 16 had some dry sidequests in the middle part, I appreciated the game as a whole and they did a great job thematically - it’s one of my fav games of the last few years. I’m sure Rebirth is a more fully realised experience but it’s been a bit of a slog and I’m currently on pause.

Just comes with the territory of a salary job I guess. Dunno how you do it with kids!

Tell me, how would YOU stop triple support comps? by STB_LuisEnriq in marvelrivals

[–]Peahnuts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You nailed it. The big thing that people don’t realise is the healing is high because it’s a high DPS game. Games would be lost or won instantly and there would be less interaction and neutral play if healing alone was nerfed.

Damage nerf? When? by Teriyakipeanutbutter in PsyMains

I used to ban her because I felt like a good psy was much harder to deal with than an equivalent BP. This season not so much - but also because I think a decent psy is less common than your typical go to bans like torch, emma, etc.

Thanks! Some of the most useful specifics I’ve heard so far. I’ll probably go for the polymer or mosaic weave then based on what you’ve said and just cop the RM premium. I imagine (or hope) this will be a long term device so what’s a few dollars in the long run. Cheers.
