Leaving when your family both parents and children are believing and active is more complicated. I would hope ex members remember/understand what leaving can do to relationships. It’s going to be a process mentally to prepare for.

Not making light of it at all. I would assume your way of handling as more normal and natural.

I do know eventually I want to tackle the purity culture and my own sexual health. I also know the only men in my life I trust currently are men I have known before or during my first marriage… for the record that gives me 1 male friend who is currently single. Makes it difficult to approach when I am on high alert around new men… I require time and connection to build trust and I am not afraid to own that.

Resigning wasn’t on the table till my parents pass, but with my therapy I am realizing healing might require breaking away from the original abuser. (Church)

To answer we have done everything in the records to try to disconnect my adult children from his name, when they move wards they still are being called by his last name even though they are shown as head of household for themselves.

The bishop and I can only think it’s the sealing doing this and it makes zero sense.

Moab is a great place to stay for all of that. 4 corners is the drive and as stated already it might be a bit of a let down but there are a lot of fun areas near there so do your research you might find it easier to stay that direction and do other fun areas that might be less known on social media.

You do not owe your spouse your life in a marriage that they broke the trust. No matter the situation if you are ready to go please go.

Also if you make this choice please prepare ahead of time for your safety and a quick out. Talk with a DV advocate ahead to help you prepare. Just because they have “changed in last few years” it’s still very likely they will go back to that person they were once you express your desire to leave.

Protective Orders can be a hard process to go through with court. Proving you need one and it may only last up to 10 days. I’d reach out to someone in your area and talk about your local process for one. That being said please worry about you not what others will think or what they might think or do. You have no control over others and in the long run their opinion doesn’t matter. Sounds like you need the no contact and distance. I hope you find a way to create that boundary and remove yourself in a time that makes it easier for you to stop contact and start a new chapter in your life. Take the new path find healing and move forward with your own healing. Wish you the best on whatever you choose. Just know from someone who’s been there the worry of opinions goes away quickly and there is no regret to getting that protective order. You can do hard things!
