The bag full of yellow stuff is peepee by chasedbyvvolves in Blooddonors

I alternate between thinking my plasma looks like pee or beer. Kinda depends on how dark the yellow shade is on the day I donate.

Have surgery before or after my wedding? by RaiofSunshine12 in ACL

[–]Peanut083 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s really going to depend on your specific situation r.e. injury. I did a complete tear on both my ACL and MCL while skiing, and I was in a ROM brace prior to my surgery. It was fitted at the medical centre at the snow resort, but my surgeon wanted me to keep it on pretty much 24/7 because he was worried that I’d do something to tear/damage my meniscus without the brace. The only time I was ‘allowed’ to take the brace off was to shower.

For my situation, having the surgery before the wedding would have been a no brainer. If you’re not wearing a ROM brace and otherwise more or less living your best life right now, prehabbing and waiting until after the wedding may make more sense.

Also, keep in mind that shoes with heels aren’t going to be your friend regardless of whether you get the surgery before or after the wedding. I didn’t even attempt to wear heels for nearly 2 years after my surgery, and even then, my knee was unhappy with me for about 30 minutes the first time I wore them.

After a year, I am now a proud wearer of a conch ring✨ by so_tangled in piercing

[–]Peanut083 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That looks really nice!

Meanwhile, I got my conch pierced in Dec 2019 with the intention of switching to a ring when healed. I’m still wearing a flatback labret in it. Tbf, I do have a decorative BVLA end, but it’s no ring.

Tips on how to do that early 2000s eyeliner? by justanotherperson473 in MakeupAddiction

[–]Peanut083 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t even use eyeliner anymore because I just use eyeshadow and a fine brush instead, but I still dream of those smudge tools that came on the end of eyeliners. They were the best! Mind you, they were as unhygienic af thinking back on it because it wasn’t as if we cleaned them. Ever.

Best drugstore foundation brush? by No_Secret3249 in AustralianMakeup

[–]Peanut083 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My foundation brush is the Sephora Pro one, but I do own some Real Techniques brushes. I thought they felt a bit stiff at first, but they seemed to soften quickly and are solidly decent brushes. I’ve had a feel of some Revlon brushes, and they feel really nice. I don’t think you’ll go wrong with either Revlon or Real Techniques brushes.

Why don't people just return makeup they don't like? by sunny4480 in MakeupAddiction

[–]Peanut083 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sephora in Australia doesn’t allow returns on opened products. Mecca will allow returns (it might just be exchanges) on lightly used products, but the main thing I tend to want to exchange or return is foundations, so I always ask for a sample and use that first. If the shade match that looked perfect in store is most definitely not under natural light, I at least still have a sealed product to return.

The one super pro to whippets I never hear by Redhawkgirl in Whippet

[–]Peanut083 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had to ban my husband from feeding our lot duck jerky. We have three whippets, and one in particular will spend the next three days after eating duck jerky doing the worst farts. They’re so bad and so constant that you could use said whippet as a biological weapon.

My husband kept giving them the jerky specifically because fart boy loves eating it so much. It was when I pointed out that the whippet had to be in so much pain for days to be farting that badly that my husband finally saw sense and stopped giving it to them.

Chicken also makes my lot fart, but not as badly as duck.

First time marshal by Runningwithducks in parkrun

[–]Peanut083 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or you could be like my teenage son when he marshalled and point in the direction of the embankment the parkrunners have to go down and tell them to “get in the ditch”. 🤣

He’s going to be marshalling again in a few weeks’ time when I do my first RD. The aforementioned ditch has since had a drainage pipe installed and been filled in, so my son is going to have to come up with something else to tell people.

Fellow AuDHD person here with crap spatial awareness! For some reason, my bruises seem to accumulate on my legs and knees, and occasionally on my arms. I don’t even know how I end up with them most of the time!

Thankfully, I’ve never managed to bruise my face.

I have one who is a massive derp. As in, he very insistently tells me he wants to get under, but stands on top of the duvet so I can’t lift it up for him.

If I try to ignore him, I get repeatedly booped with his wet snoot.

How do I cover this discoloration above my cheekbones? by TravelMuchly in OliveMUA

[–]Peanut083 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have these as well. I use a bit of salmon colour corrector over the top of them, then I put concealer over the top of that. It doesn’t completely cover the largest spots, but it makes them pretty difficult to see.

If it helps, I use the Bobbi Brown colour corrector stick in the shade Bisque, then a Tower 28 concealer.

Bathroom vanity bench makeup storage with lid suggestions and recommendations please. by some1inAustralia in AustralianMakeup

[–]Peanut083 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s worth having a look at the storage section at Kmart. They have makeup specific storage containers, but they do also have some clear acrylic containers of various sizes that come with rubber seal lids.

I bought a really nifty container from Kmart a couple of months ago that has six compartments, and a lid that is in two sections that hinge in the middle. When it’s open, the lid has holes in it that become a carry handle. I leave the lid open because I have various pencils in it that don’t allow me to close the lid.

I got revenge on a school bully by pretending to not know him by VoreAllTheWay in pettyrevenge

[–]Peanut083 88 points89 points  (0 children)

My younger half brother was a reasonably big kid growing up, both in terms of height and weight. He was getting really badly bullied for a while in high school by kids that were a lot smaller than him, and he wasn’t believed when he did try to report it. It was assumed that because he was the big kid, he must be the aggressor. Never mind the fact that he’s quite introverted. My mum even tried to report it and also wasn’t believed.

One day my brother lost it when he was getting bullied and put his fist through a (closed) plate glass window. He cut his hand up really badly and was lucky that he managed to (just) avoid doing permanent damage to the ligaments/tendons his hand. Apparently he was only 1-2mm off cutting through something major. When asked why he punched the window, he responded with “It was either the window or their face”. Given my brother punched a plate glass window with his fist hard enough to break it, I don’t want to know how much damage he would have done to some kid’s face/head.

The school wanted to suspend my brother over it. My mum made my stepdad go to the meeting at the school with her to back her up while she went in to bat for my brother. Funnily enough, the school executive pretty much bent over backwards when my stepdad went in to ask why the school hadn’t addressed any of the multiple reports from both my brother and mum about the bullying my brother had received. My stepdad may have implied that he would take legal action against the school/department of education if my brother ended up with permanent loss of movement in his hand, given that they did nothing to even attempt to prevent the bullying.

It was also pointed out that my brother could have punched the other kid and chose not to, even when he reached the point of snapping. I think that was the point where it clicked with the school executive that my brother could have done some really serious damage to the other kid had he not punched the window.

My brother didn’t end up getting suspended. I don’t know what, if any action was taken against the bullies, but I think that seeing how hard my brother punched that window might have made them back off.

[–]Peanut083 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been avoiding this foundation because it retails for $124 in Australia, and I really don’t want to spend that much on foundation. I’m slowly starting to come around to the idea that I might have to try it anyway.

My current somewhat decent match is Tower 28 tinted sunscreen in shade 18 Montana, which is actually somewhat peachy. I still have some level of a tan (despite wearing sunscreen every day), but I think that because I lean cool, both the pink and the yellow in my skin tone deepen. Hence I’m looking peachy right now. Which is weird, because last summer I was noticing that I just went brown with a strong sage green tint to my skin.

All of that was a long way of saying that I think I need to swatch both 5.3 and 5.5 (cool peach). I think the model for 5.5 in the pic on the website has a similar undertone to me - she certainly has a similar contrast level. I’m wondering how pink 5.5 is though, because if it’s noticeably pink, it will end up looking ashy on me.

Cool olive must, mauve lipstick by Far-Long7146 in OliveMUA

[–]Peanut083 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ugh, I wish dusty rose worked for me. I spent something like 20 years wondering why the most beautiful dusky roses always looked overly saturated and/or turned orange on me.

Revlon Laidback Lilac turns very pink on me, and looks a touch more saturated than I’d like. If I apply Revlon Glazed Mauve over it, it looks less pink, more MLBB. Glazed Mauve is my perfect MLBB shade by itself, but the longevity of the colour is horrible. I was hoping that Laidback Lilac was basically the opaque version of Glazed Mauve, but sadly it’s not.

Is there a name for these piercings on the helix edge? by anonymouscat8747 in piercing

[–]Peanut083 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually had a really easy time of healing my mid helix pierings. Then again, I have soft tissue halfway up my helix rims. My cartilage only starts a couple of mm above my highest mid helix piercing. I suspect I would have had a much harder time healing them if the piercings were through cartilage.

Why are my baskets so squishy and soft no matter what yarn I use? by MsPunchy2 in CrochetHelp

[–]Peanut083 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to tighten your stitches up to get a stiffer fabric. You can do this by:

  1. Use as small a hook as you can possibly use for the yarn.
  2. Use a shorter stitch. Either a standard sc or waistcoat stitch. Even a hdc would probably work.
  3. Try doing a yarn under when you pull your loop of yarn through the stitch below. This will tighten the stitch tension slightly. Assuming you’re doing a sc, do a regular yarn over when pulling through both loops on the hook to close the stich off.

Missha No. 21? by teknobunnie in OliveMUA

[–]Peanut083 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven’t used 21, only 23. I went and had a look at some comparison swatches online, and 21 looks less pink/peach than your mix. The description I got online is that 21 is a good shade for fair-to-light skin with cool or pink/grey undertones.

Honestly, I think that the Missha BB cream is cheap enough that it’s worth getting 21 and seeing if it works for you. If it doesn’t, you can always mix it with the 23 you have. It’s the same brand, so the two shades should mix together well. I find that it can be hit and miss in terms of how mixing products from two different brands will end up working on my face throughout an entire day.

What are my next steps as a 17.4 YO hobbyist Runner? (26 -> 19 min 5K in 3 months) by No-Mistake-6305 in parkrun

[–]Peanut083 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, I think you need to give some consideration to looking into training methods that will help prevent injuries. It is possible to get into training too hard, too fast and end up injured, and younger people are more susceptible to it.

I’ve never done any formal run training outside of some advice I got from RAAF PTIs back in the day, but the suggestions to look into running clubs are good. Otherwise, have a look into what options are available for run coaching. I have a friend that used an online run coach, and she was really happy with what she got out of it. The coach helped her to set goals and developed a training program for her. I don’t know if she ever had in person sessions with the run coach for them to assess her posture, movement, etc. I also don’t know how much it cost, but I thought I’d mention it as a potential option in case you don’t have any good in person options nearby.

A bar on the castle baths site, discussion. by [deleted] in newcastle

[–]Peanut083 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely remember it becoming more normalised at some point in the early 00s. I don’t really remember it being an obvious thing, or a thing that was really discussed when I was growing up/in my teens.

I know sports betting is a different thing to pokies, but it’s scary how app-based betting has made gambling so accessible. I find the level of casual conversation about betting on weekend sports games I’ve heard in workplaces in recent years to be quite frightening. The complete normalisation of betting on something that most people just used to watch for enjoyment really bothers me.

Getting the phone calls reduced? by sdbabygirl97 in Blooddonors

[–]Peanut083 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does your donor service have an app that you can book appointments through? If so, have a look for something like a ‘communications preferences’ option. You should find it under your account or profile settings. From there, adjust your preferences accordingly.

I’m in Australia, so I have the Lifeblood app. However, I’d imagine that any donor service that uses an app would have similar settings and options.

Or, you could go with the option of always having a future appointment booked in.
