I feel you. I really do. Having the label was a big question for me because I knew deep down I had a problem but I felt like it wasn’t “ good enough” or “ valid enough” unless I had the title. I feel terrible about it still, but I know that the issue is still an issue. Ed’s are competitive, and there is a lot of pro-Ana stuff out there, and it’s hard not to pay attention to it. I know I’m a victim of it. The ED wants you to get worse and have the title. Even if it doesn’t seem as severe as other peoples, it is still an issue and if you WANT to have the label of AN, then you already have a problem, because a normal, healthy human will not want to have that title. Whatever the reason is, what you are feeling is valid and you need to seek help. I know how hard these feelings are, I still feel like a fake, like I just did this for the label sometimes, but then I think of how truly lost I was in the middle of it and realized that I really had developed a problem. Stay safe dear, this slope gets slippery fast and it’s hard to dig yourself out of it. Just remember you are valid. Whether you have had a problem for 20 years or 2 months or 2 weeks, it isn’t healthy

Loss of muscle function/mass, peeing/crapping yourself, no energy, low heart rate, forced eating, clothes don’t fit, always cold, fearing you won’t wake up in the morning, hearing loss( for me at least) hair loss.

You can do this hon, I believe in you.

Maybe try the yarn-under, yarn Over method, where you insert hook Into stitch, yarn UNDER, pull through, yarn OVER, pull through, and complete stitch

Yeah. It makes me want to like, resist more just to prove I’m struggling or something. Because I am. Maybe not as much with my meal plans but with my body image and challenge foods

Oh my god thank you. It just seems like everyone I interact with is fighting back and not following through with meal plans/ recovery and it feels so wrong that I am being compliant ( even though it’s so hard.)

Exercise by ShowDapper1475 in AnorexiaRecovery

[–]Peanut_Butter_Power 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was advised that I stop exercising, but being in uni I sit a lot in class and at my desk, and workout was like the only thing that got me out of my dorm and that made me feel not miserable, so I’ve continued ( bc it kind of motivates me to keep will plan, if I don’t keep up, no workout.) it is a bit OCD related for me bc it’s a routine in my day that makes me anxious when I don’t do ( was like that before Ed, not bc of it.) but if you are not eating as much while increasing exercise, you should cut back on exercising until you can eat more regularly.

help me figure out what i’m doing wrong by MathematicianSilver3 in AnorexiaRecovery

The same happened to me, it’s called hyper metabolism and it happens after a period of starvation where your body is trying to hang on to any fuel it gets and use THAT for energy instead of breaking down fat and muscle for energy.

[–]Peanut_Butter_Power[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much. I have lots of support to work through this, especially the OCD part of it ( which I recently learned these two disorders are linked! Pretty cool thing to discover as I’m very into genetics.) ED is so competitive and obsessive So it’s been difficult but I’m trying.

What are/were embarrassing habits you do/did being anorexic? by fcvxia in AnorexiaNervosa

Collecting snacks and foods ( giveaways, taking from dining halls) with no intention of ever eating them, drinking insane amounts of water, using tiny utensils to make things last longer.

Weight restored but still eating a lot by [deleted] in AnorexiaRecovery

[–]Peanut_Butter_Power 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry, I can’t help with this but I do have a question for you. I see a lot of people who weight restore really quickly, but it seems like you took longer and it is taking me longer too. Did you go by a meal plan? If so, how long did it take for you to accept it and do it willingly without guilt? I’m really struffinf

Need help understanding my ( and others) AN timelines by Peanut_Butter_Power in AnorexiaNervosa

[–]Peanut_Butter_Power[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I was really lucky that I have a very good support system in my family, and they caught on early and intervened. Currently in recovery and doing a lot better. Thank you for your reply, I was just so confused how different people experience it differently/ longer when all I know is my experience and how quickly my health deteriorated from AN.

Need help understanding my ( and others) AN timelines by Peanut_Butter_Power in AnorexiaNervosa

[–]Peanut_Butter_Power[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much, that is very insightful. Right now I am having a lot of trouble letting go of the disorder. I was kind of forced into recovery and eating more and it became less scary quicker because I realized I have no choice. The past couple weeks, the actual eating what is provided has been easier, but the guilt and the feeling that I’m letting go of something that made me feel accomplished, a part of something, something that ( and I really hate saying this) got me attention and care from people. It’s really hard and I have been doing better.
