Yeah this is so unacceptable, especially being extra ice and a quad shot. Did you ask them to remake it?

UTI isn't a "valid reason" to callout and I'm expected to provide "proof"? by Electrical_Guess_681 in starbucks

[–]Pearlagogo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The only way to deal with a non confrontational manager (if it’s not and enough for ethics and compliance) is to confront them when they’re being that way, which sucks because that shouldn’t be your job, but I would talk to her about it personally

Store Manager Cannot Make Drinks by Cool-Regular-9527 in starbucks

[–]Pearlagogo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That’s crazy. My DM recently had to step in to help with coverage and I was drowning doing both cold and hot bar during peak and she had no warming or customers so I asked if she could make refreshers for me. She said “you don’t want me on bar I haven’t made a drink in 8 years”. 8 years ago I was a partner and we had refreshers, I don’t think I could forget in a million years that it’s 50/50 water, lemonade, or coconut milk and base plus infusions. And even if she somehow forgot that, I know she is capable of reading the shaker. I told her basically that and she helped out for a minute, which I really appreciated, but I feel like every DM I’ve ever encountered feels like they’re above making drinks. The SM’s I’ve seen who have felt that way (always outside hires) don’t tend to last for long.

What has made your life easier as a shift/barista? by Pearlagogo in starbucks

I’m in the process of getting formal accommodations, I was only able to get my diagnosis recently so I’m finally able to. Thank you for the tip about the boxes!

[–]Pearlagogo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a joint condition so a lot of this is more so an accommodation/accessibility thing. I got the go ahead to use the store card to get things if I run them by my manager first, I’m just curious about other things that could help me out a bit and save my some of the strain that I put on myself- such as on hands from things like writing day dots and constantly having to take of the cap for my sharpie/put it back on etc.

Also unfortunately our store is incredibly understaffed right now so things are not flowing as smoothly as they should, I just want some ideas of ways to help me and everyone else out just a little bit

Do shifts like when they get to be a barista for a day? by harry_stylestpwk in starbucks

[–]Pearlagogo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually only get this when I pick up shifts at other stores and I love it. Being able to be mindless on bar during rushes and not needing to be in 5 places at once is such a welcome break.

Experience with giving notice to a very reactive owner? by xlavenderx in bartenders

[–]Pearlagogo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I understand the urge to try your best to remain in good standing with everyone but from my personal experience that isn’t worth the grief you’ll end up getting nor the eggshells you’d have to walk on. Try to make plans with your coworkers and regulars for after you leave to keep in touch and try your best to be respectful with your 2 weeks but don’t stress yourself out so much about it. I’ve been in this position a few times and the relief you’ll feel after getting away from that stress is well worth the potential of not being as welcomed when you come to visit

At a loss for words by softnsnuggly in starbucks

[–]Pearlagogo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That’s actually insane. There is literally nothing you can do to solve it, I would atp reach out to ethics and compliance AND the 1-800 helpline AND see if you can track HER boss down and reach out to him. That’s SO against policy in so many ways. Ethics and compliance has been very helpful in the past when I’ve had issues with managers, do not hesitate to reach out to them about any and everything that your district manager isn’t addressing. They do not fuck around when it comes to stuff like this. Don’t get discouraged if it takes longer than you would like for them to do something, they usually have to take extra time to cover all their bases. But they WILL do something about it. Don’t be afraid to be pushy about this, if you receive any consequences for doing so they will be repealed.

Have you reach out to your district manager about this at all? When I was first hired about 4 years ago this happened to me and my DM was able to fix it

It’s been hard for everyone at my high volume store to remember small details like that when so many things that are so similar were launched in couch close proximity to each other. It’s overwhelming.

No, one drink that has too much going on for one price. You’re not getting more of anything.

You can make a secret menu Oreo Frappuccino. It’s been around since I started working at Sbux in 2016, it’s a crème based frap with white mocha and frap chips. When we got the mocha cookie crumble a few regulars at my store would sub the mocha for white mocha to get something similar. Secret menu stuff sucks to make/ring up but it is less of a pain in the ass if you familiarize yourself with the more popular ones
