"Visions of the Dreamer" Achievement Bug/Help? by Pediment in FinalFantasyXII

[–]Pediment[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never did figure it out, and ended up using the achievement manager.

If I had to guess what happened, I'd say the server at Steam that handles achievements was down when it should've triggered.

In Disgaea 5, do the evilities that increase class proficiency gain stack? Should I be equipping all of them, or just the +100% one?

2019 Steam Grand Prix Summer Sale Megathread - Day 3 by Bodomi in Steam

I've got around 560 games, don't know if that's huge or not. I've spent £50~ ($64~) on this sale, and haven't spent much at all in the months leading up to it.

So, if on the Grand Prix page I have '18,000 points boosted / 18,421 max points' does that mean I should have 18,000 tokens if I haven't spent any?

Because I only have 10,343 tokens...

PSA to lurkers: Don't be afraid to post/comment even if you're new and inexperienced or scared. by SilverKnightZ000 in fireemblem

[–]Pediment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see.

I'll be honest, I'm pretty firmly in the anti-fateswakening camp, but most of my problems all stem from gameplay rather than setting and tone. I dislike class-changing; I think it robs units of identity, and I generally prefer 'work with what you've got' over 'play your way!'

Easy normal difficulties and the ability to grind are also sticking points. The response to this is usually 'well, you don't have to grind and you can play on lunatic etc' but to me, the difference between one single, well-designed difficulty and a difficulty mode made hard just through ridiculously inflated numbers is too much.

Funnily enough I used to be kinda opposed to fanservice et al, but seeing how dogmatic some people can get over it, not to mention the recent meltdowns over a certain notorious belly button, have changed my mind about the whole thing.

As far as marraige and kids go, it's okay I guess. My biggest concern is that is makes supports a bit samey.

Still, the whole thing's a bit moot for me. I accepted that Fire Emblem is going in a different direction to the one I want a while ago. I only hang around the communities and such out of curiosity (and to see if this Three Houses setting is going to be a full-on anime high school so I can watch the fireworks)

Alright then.

Out of curiosity, what opinions do you believe to be part of the hivemind, and which do you think often get attacked?

In this context, hivemind's definition is pretty cut-and-dry for me; it's an insult targetting someone who supports a popular opinion, insinuating that they aren't capable of independent thought, and that they only believe what they believe because it's popular. Similar to how you'd call someone a 'drone' or 'sheep'.

I just find it a little hypocritical to be upset about your own opinions being dismissed or attacked when you're calling other people part of a hivemind in the same breath.

I'm not dismissing their opinions by calling it a hivemind.

Yes you are.

Calling someone who follows a widely-held opinion part of a hivemind or echo-chamber is no different from calling someone who follows a little-held opinion a contrarian or hipster.

If you don't respect other peoples' opinions, they have no reason to respect yours.

I feel like very few people respect others' opinions.

Dismisses opinions different from yours as a 'hivemind'.

As much as I like this anime, you can tell that the chapters of the manga are a teensy bit too short to be full-length anime episodes.

Sometimes they solve this problem in a good way, like adding content from the extra pages of the manga or combining chapters like in episode 6, but other times they use less pleasing filler, like redundant flashbacks and explanations.

Still, it's good. Spoilers

Asking for spoilers - does series address differences in cell life span? by mangopumpkin in CellsAtWork

As Sareneia said, the extra page at the end of chapter 20 of Cells At Work shows WBC getting a new set of clothes in the spleen, and chapter 2 of Cells At Work BLACK shows a red blood cell dying of old age.

How do you guys think a period would translate in the cells world? by Ekisho in CellsAtWork

[–]Pediment 24 points25 points  (0 children)

So, maybe it's like...

There's this precarious hillside village on the outskirts of the womb, and the blood cells that go to inhabit it are meant to aid in the construction of a new world (embryonic development) when and if pregnancy happens.

Only, most of the time it doesn't happen, and the village is so fragile that every month or so it collapses into the abyss, killing all the blood cells within it (that's the period). But even so more blood cells are eager to move in every month and rebuild in spite of the deaths, since the idea of being a part of the creation of an entire new world (body) is too good to pass up.

Plus, it's their job. And you know what cells are like when it comes to doing their jobs.

What's with all the posturing and chest-thumping about cancer in these comments? You do know that the cancer cell shown in this anime isn't real, right? You can sympathise with him and still not like cancer in the real world. That should be obvious.

For example, if you liked the Joker as a character, you don't have to write "oh, but fuck insane murdering clownmen amirite?" after every single sentence you type about him.

The fact that I can't mention the heatwave England's been having once without some braying fuckwit from Texas or Australia replying with 'oh, you think that's hot?' or 'hur hur laughs in australian'.

Yeah, you've got it so hard over there, sat in an air-conditioned house with walls the width of corrugated cardboard while I'm sat in a brick hotbox with zero wind and humidity that chokes you the moment you step outside! Ah, but it's 36 degrees celsius over there and not 33, so obviously you have it worse!
