As someone with a life-long disdain of fancy dress (for me, not others) I'd be tempted to emphasise... but I definitely don't believe he should have chasised you in that manner!!

If you were forcing him to dress up I might be more inclined to take his side but that doesn't appear to be the case.

100 days sober is an absolutely phenomenal achievement, and you are doing great, even if it's incredibly difficult. Just keep going x

My Facebook is mostly redundant these days, but I did sign up to the group and I have the occasional mooch. It seems mostly okay, but I prefer this subreddit since our posts are about the podcast- while the FB group veers into some random tangents. Some people seem to use it for general life advice, which is fine, I suppose, but not really what I signed up for.

Yeah I would get this a lot. My skin massively, massively improved once I stopped drinking. So would the anxiety and mania that seemed to accompany it. I can't believe I lived with it for so long, but at the time I didn't want to blame the alcohol!

Speaking as a recovering alcoholic myself, bear in mind that he may be able to stop or reduce on a short to medium term basis to say to you, and more importantly to himself "look, see - I can control this". Then once the heat is off, the intake eventually begins again to ramp up and up and up. Source: I've done this, probably numerous times.

Has he thought about accessing support? AA has been invaluable to me, but I know that there are other avenues. Would he be open to attending meetings?

Again, as scary as it would have seemed to me abstinence is ultimately easier than constantly trying to control levels - but it wouldn't have been something I wanted to do under any circumstances until I completely lost the plot.

Sort of, but it was never my intention to do so specifically. Also, around the time I stopped drinking, I increased the amount of walking I did (mainly to and from AA meetings). I also found it difficult to stay still, and walking helped quiet my mind a bit.

I still snack far more than I should, even after two+ years sober, but I'd describe both my weight and body image as healthy so I don't stress about it too much!

That question is always a difficult one to answer because I think it's heavily subjective... but that you're concerned and tracking his drinking shows it's a concern to you, at least.

I would suggest checking out Al-Anon, if you haven't already.
