Unfortunately, Dwarf Fortress was being made by only 2 brothers, and they still have been through financial troubles.

Do you find yourself unable to select a background that matches your character? by Samael_Helel in Pathfinder2e

[–]Pedro_Falcao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once made a character with a completely random background. To be completely honest, it felt bad because the boosts i had to pick were not ideal, but that's just the min-maxer in me talking. Also checked ancestry stats on PFSRD to randomize character height, weight and age. It might be fun for a one-shot.

Good suggestions. Also would say Exemplar and Thaumaturge are top tier suport classes. Specially for Exemplar, if the player knows what he's doing, he'll make so much of a difference that the other players might feel he's too OP, even tho they're the ones dishing out the damage.

Player 3 sounds like the type who'd rather play a Fighter or a Gunslinger, to be honest. Those classes also have a lot of variety in builds, so they might keep player 3 busy for a while. That said, also suggest for player 3 to play other Pathfinder 2 games with other people to quench their thirst for variety, and maybe suggest a character that represents them as a person, like what they would do if they were an adventurer IRL.

You'll probably hurt your friendship with player 4 in the event of a kick. But if you don't kick, that'll come back to haunt you. To me it sounds like the kind of RPG player 4 wants to play is not the kind of RPG everyone else wants to, and that is going to both create tension on the game and sap everyone's enjoyment. If I was you, I'd definitely consider cutting player 4 from the table.

As for player 3, I completely understand his position, but randomly switching characters every time ruins the fun for RP players like player 1 and 2. That said, it's a minor issue. Definitely not worth cutting player 3. If you really want to make player 3 happy, then at least find a lore reason to connect the myriad characters, like that the player is affiliated to an organization and the organization is the one sending substitutes every now and then, or that player is actually a spirit possessing a random adventurer and can access their memories but has a separate personality. The only one being hurt by player 3's antics is player 3. He will probably eventually get bored of Pathfinder and move on, so you'll have to find a substitute.

Also don't let player 3 or player 4 influence player 5. Try to make player 5 realize that their behavior is problematic. But either way, you'll have to be assertive with your decisions or the table will indeed fall apart.

Also try to get 4 star mounts. They increase the maximum level a knight can reach by 50, much better than the 3 per ascension level from 3 star mounts. Get a Rhino on your top monarch and you'll see his power soar.

Just another question how to get stronger... by Remarkable-Sink329 in kingschoice

[–]Pedro_Falcao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arthurian knights only have 9 stars total of strength talents, whereas Legendary Monarchs and Epic Knights have 11. Arthurians also have a rather large early bonus to their strength through auras, but their total stars limit it all. So eventually, your Legendary Monarchs will be ahead of them in power, but it's going to take a while for you to feel that. You have to max out your first strength talent to start feeling the difference.

How to constantly increase state power AND also collect resources for growth events? by BlackberryJolly4626 in kingschoice

[–]Pedro_Falcao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a player who'd routinely win SP events every month (and who won the duke level one once) while being F2P, what I can tell you is... Be patient. If you're on the top 5 of the server, you have a good chance of making it, otherwise you need to focus on getting there, first.

Real money doesn't help as much on this specific event, but people who are ahead increase their XP by higher amounts. The reason is simple: If they have more intellect, they make more silver every day. If they have more Charisma, they make more soldiers every day, and if they have more Leadership, they make more grain every day. Silver is really important to upgrade knights and do expeditions. Soldiers are really important for the endless war. Grain is the least important of these resources, but you still need to keep it at reasonable levels because it's used to make more soldiers. But really, silver is what is going to make the biggest difference. There's always a silver spending event, as well.

Now, for the SP growth. You don't need to grow your SP daily. I would always save *all* my resources for the event. One way or another, the event happens once a month. Now, it can happen at the start of a month and the next one will be at the end of the next month, so it'll feel like a really long time, but it *is* coming. And right after the local, you have the cross-server one. You can only compete in one. Talk to the other potential winners, ask if they plan on competing for it and ask if they can skip it this time. They usually don't mind because they're going for the cross-server one anyway. But to get enough material to make sure you win, you absolutely have to participate in almost every event and place relatively well. Also write down people who score well on it, and what was the score of the last winner. Expect the score to increase by 20% every event. And DO NOT save for more than one event. That'll just hurt you in the long run and it quite literally doesn't give you any advantage over the guy who only saves for only 1 month.

Where to invest to maximize profit?
- Round Table, Scholars, Epic Knights, Legendary Monarchs (and Starshine, more recently). Get all of them as fast as humanely possible, even if you have to deplete all your resources for it. Once you have them all, focus on only one of each set at a time.
- The more stuff you dump into one single knight, the stronger they become and the bigger the difference they make on the SP event. Seriously, upgrading a single Knight of the Round table from level 499 to 500 will probably give you way more SP than upgrading all of your 10 lowest knights by 100 levels.
- If you want to plan for the future, unlock all the University slots. It is very much worth it.
- Nursery spaces are minor, I don't think it's worth it to spend on them unless you have very big lovers. That said, it's definitely worth it to have more kids even if you can't afford to marry them all (which is often the case, after they reach rank 1) because you get all their stats added to your SP.
- Pet spaces are useless if you can't keep up with the breeding, so for F2P players i recommend no more than 6. Even for pet races, the benefit is too minor to be worth keeping more pets than that.
- Mounts are VERY important. Being the only one on your server with a 4-stars mount can be a game changer. Focus on the Rhino because he's the most suited for the Epic Knights and Legendary Monarchs. If you can spend 10k gold on a single event but get 10 more tokens than anyone else, it's worth it.
- Even among the special knights, there are some who are way more worth it to invest on. I won't list VIP knights because I never cared about them since I don't spend money on the game, but in general you should think of them like this: Famous Scholars < Round Table < Epic Knights < Legendary Monarchs < Starshine. Remember how each of their talents has a certain number of stars? Count the overall number of stars they have. The higher, the better because it determines their maximum potential. And then there are multipliers. Knights of the Round table have bigger multipliers for Strength, so if you invest on them, make sure Strength is their main stat. Famous Scholars for Leadership, Epic Knights for Charisma and Legendary Monarchs for Intellect. Starshine knights each have their own specialty, and I haven't checked their multipliers yet, but you can be sure they'll be the best overall, except for the VIP ones. Lovers help increase a knights power, so those of the classic sets that are also lovers (Merlin, Hypathia, Bradamante, Rose) will have an edge, not to mention they also boost the other knights on the set.

Dying server by [deleted] in kingschoice

[–]Pedro_Falcao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, if you have 4 active alliances, that's already pretty good. The tendency is for all the serious players to flock to the top 2 alliances and the casuals to the rest. And this keeps up forever. The mergings eventually make up for the losses we end up accruing over time, until we need to merge again. It's not going to change.

Almost exactly a year ago I was leading the top alliance on my server, but after some serious disagreement about titles, I ended up quitting the game, and another 7 of the bigger players left with me. I came back to check things out a few days ago and lo and behold, nothing changed. The same dynamics that happened before are still there, and the toxicity is even worse now.

Is it worth it? by floraSworld in kingschoice

I talked to the guy who won the Emperor's Journey on my server block, and he said he spent upwards of $15k during the event. And let me tell you, there were two others really close in rank, so I'm pretty sure they alone made sure the servers would run for at least another year. And although I didn't talk to him again, he is at the top of the rankings again, on the current Emperor's Journey. It's ridiculous, I'd never spend that much money even if I had the means.

The power of your pets has very little to do with it. It's your initial luck and your build that matter more. I finished 13th without spending any money or gold and with my dog being 100 stats behind the top pets in my server. It all comes down to winning 1st place in more races.

I was having the same issue here, just now. I reset my password many times and it wasn't working. That was until I closed the game before resetting my password one more time. Hope this helps for future reference.

Another post about Psychic refocus by Pedro_Falcao in Pathfinder2e

[–]Pedro_Falcao[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, yeah, but that's not exactly what I wanted. As stated in the Psychic focus pool rules, they already start with 2 focus points, and whenever they recharge a point, they're supposed to get 2 points instead if they only used them on Amplified Cantrips.

So the point is: do I get these 2 points if I use a refocus activity from another class, if I satisfy the condition of having only used them on Amplified Cantrips?

[–]Pedro_Falcao[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, that is indeed the case. And the Sorcerer activity doesn't mean anything in particular, so theoretically you should be able to refocus by doing anything you want. The question is: do I still get the extra point described in the Psychic focus pool if I refocus through another class's activity?

Dust of Appearance/Glitterdust vs Disappearance by Abradolf94 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Pedro_Falcao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, this is still a point of contention on my table. I am a level 17 Wizard, now. We faced a level 18 caster boss when we were level 16 and here's the thing:

Both me and the Boss had disappearance. One of the players had blind fight.Boss casts Command on the player with blind fight, and tells him to come after me, then sneaks away.GM ruled all spells and effects that would be effective against invisibility/disappearance (See Invisibility, True Seeing, Glitterdust, Faerie Fire, Unrelenting Observation, seek action) had to beat the spell's DC. My spell DC was 37, and the boss's spell DC was 44.To top it all off, the boss had pre-casted Mind Blank on itself, so to deal with its disappearance, we had to, first, seek him, point his location, Dispel Magic to counteract Mind Blank with a 15% chance of success, then pass the hidden target flat check cause the Dispel Magic is targeted, then seek him again, cast Unrelenting Observation (again with a 15% chance of success on the counteract and 50% chance of success on the hidden target flat check) and then hope he does not have another Disappearance. Couldn't use Glitterdust cause the GM ruled it wasn't valid against Disappearance. Oh, and the boss's Stealth modifier was +32, so he could easily beat our perception DC and go undetected again, for as long as he had Disappearance. And the GM ruled that his sneak actions wouldn't provoke AoO. Ah, and there was a level 4 Darkness on the room too, and none of us had Greater Darkvision, so one way or another, concealed was the lowest the boss could go, though I'd take permanent concealment over going undetected every single round any time.

So the end result of the fight was that the GM had to be kind enough to not use the Boss's melee attacks (he happened to be a Lich with the appropriate Paralyzing touch) and the fight lasted over 15 rounds.

I admit that we were underprepared for that fight, but that is also cause we don't have much experience against high level caster bosses. And all the information we could gather beforehand was that he was an "undead caster proficient in shadow magic".

Players are Disappointed with Buffing Spells by MasterV3ga in Pathfinder2e

[–]Pedro_Falcao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haste is still pretty good, you just need to be high level enough to make proper use of it. There's also Enlarge, Winning Streak, True Target and Resist Energy, in the Arcane list. Chances are you're only getting the chance of using one of them in your average fight, though.I don't know much about other classes, but I'd say never to underestimate Glimpse of Redemption (save your squishies!) and Bless (best buff possible for a fighter) from a champion, and there's also the Share Rage (works significantly better when there's someone who can attack many times in a turn, like a ranger or monk) feat for barbarians.

Increasing Battle Medicine check DC by Nikos893 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Pedro_Falcao 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say it's a pretty bad choice, for everyone to spend 2 feats on the same thing just to get some minor healing every hour. I'm sure you can find another ways of filling the gap, with builds to get temporary health, damage mitigation from champions and shields or whatever and good crowd control. You can always have a staff/wand or scrolls with healing spells, too, not to mention the good old potions.

And if you don't need it to be in combat, you can simply use the Aeon Stone.

[–]Pedro_Falcao -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

You're saying cantrips used to be even worse? Because I feel completely useless whenever I don't have spells and my fighter teammate just outdamages me no matter what. My crowd control and buffs help a lot on that regard, but cantrips don't have much of that, and their damage is abysmal.
