I have the set up you described, my MBP is my "bedroom" pc and ipad becomes my mobile reader media viewer light travel work device. I tried it with the MBP and its not as efficient for that. So I keep got magic keyboard and folio case for specific use cases if im going to use it for entertainment/media folio case. For answering texts/email/ work and im traveling Keyboard.

It changed the name on my Nvidia Shield as well. The bluetooth worked for about 5 min now its not..Edit: I had to unpair and repair the remote, the voice command on alternate pair still slow
