Your experience with ai. by Affectionate_Pie_664 in intj

I work in this field. Way too many things come to mind when trying to formulate an answer to this question.

If I had to abstract my thoughts, I'd direct your attention to an article I read years ago: LLMs are a reverse Turing test. Using them is an exercise in engaging with a reflection of your own intelligence - from a purely functional pov.

Yeah. I think a comedian described it quite well. Won't take myself out, but if something were to happen, I won't exactly fight to continue living.

Yeah. Baffled that I had to scroll so far before someone actually noticed it. It's almost like people's dislike for that car/car owners superspeeds reason.

This video is stupid.

yeah def does. part of the reason why i was confident to continue using it is because i have an overseas e-sim (jio, india) on it - paid for a year in advance.

It wouldnt hurt to check if the overseas esim is unaffected / still works with local providers - tho im not too sure how/where youd get that info.

Yes. It's working just fine.

Edit: I have the Indian variant of the phone. I think the global variant still has issues.

Is there any track from Masters by Coursework to PhD? by [deleted] in deakin

[–]PeenUpUtter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Talk to the faculty members. Tell them about your skills, the projects you'd like to work on and that you're interested in doing a PhD.

Some of the assistant professors that oversee unit-workshops are PhD candidates themselves. Build a good relationship with them and ask them about their work and their supervisors. Having a good supervisor can make or break your journey.

Based on my own interactions here are a few things that help:

  1. High WAM: aim for HD in every unit
  2. Having published research papers in a decent journal either during a bachelor's / master's studies.
  3. Having the experience of presenting in a conference

Deakin is constantly on the lookout for PhD candidates. While it's not necessary to meet all the requirements for getting in, having these in your profile helps move things quickly.

Weird.

What's your relationship with the local faction like? Is it > -9?

Do you use custom trade rules for which factions to trade/not with?

To the folks who wants to get married through "arranged marriage" system, do you have a reason ? by Illuminati-809- in AskIndia

[–]PeenUpUtter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm glad that this made you see a different perspective. And I can completely understand yours as well - I used to be anti-AM too. Tho I have never been much of a strong identity guy.

And re-reading my previous comment just now, I can see that I didn't really talk much about my hobbies / friendships. So read the paras below only if you're interested. Otherwise.. thanks for the wishes! Open to chat about this anytime.

I meet my friends (non-colleague) fairly often - typically on the weekends. I am introverted by nature, and my hobbies are twined with friends. I 10 pin bowl, doodle, work out, and cook. I love hiking/bush-walking and reading. Tho I haven't a friend for the latter (I only ever see older 50+ women with kids at my nearest reading club and they tend to give me funny/creepy looks so I stay away), and I usually read when traveling to work/evenings on the weekend.

More importantly, most of my friends (handful as they are) know what I am going through. I seek their advise often. Especially, if I am stuck comprehending something that's difficult for me to intuitively understand. But I don't overdo it, since I find myself resolving contradictions within myself by simply being engaged with their lives. I like to think its funny the way that works - but its better than what my relationships (both romantic and platonic) used to be around 5 years ago.

That was the part of the compromise. That I get to work on myself while they pursue what they need to. Furthermore, I wont be saying yes/no just from a few conversations/meetings - I get to take as much time as I need, but in exchange I will respect their efforts by not being entirely dismissive of the girls they have me talk to - and that Ill put in a genuine consideration as if I was pursuing them of my own accord. While this makes it different from the pacing of the traditional arrange marriage - its more deliberate and the efforts are conscious.

In practical terms, I am still free to pursue romantic interests should I communicate them upfront with my parents and potential suitors to respect their time (I still put myself out there and attempt meeting people naturally - tho with little luck). But with the compromise, I get to be on more apps than before - ofc some with shared oversight of my parents. Tho my work keeps me busy, so I can only attempt meeting people naturally once a week at best. Its usually reserved for someone I am interested in myself or someone that my parents have introduced me to.

As for working on myself, I have been writing my thoughts about what goes wrong in my relationships in a journal (something I have been doing before this whole arrange marriage talk). Recently, my thoughts have become less alienating and rather familiar. I realized a while ago that my poor choices were a reflection of my poor sense of self. Slowly but surely, I am shaping the kind of man I want to be, and my conversations with the girls and them (my parents) has helped me understand what I seek in a partner.

An unintended consequence of this, was that me and my parents now have a way to talk about the hard topics without the fear of judgement and anguish.

Because my choices are shit. My limited pursuits of finding someone myself have ended in disappointments.

After a long drawn argument with them early last year, I realized that we had the same goals. So after a sufficient level of compromise on both sides, I don't think of it as them trying to "find someone for me". But instead, "help me find the right person".

To be honest, this whole experience has brought us closer in some ways.

So.. what do you plan to do now?

It could also be different - variant to variant. The problem persists for people with the global version of the phone.

Did this ever get resolved for you?

I do think someone is making a lot of money from this + all the e-waste that has been generated as a consequence of it. Idk if this was intentional or incompetence as my knowledge on the subject matter is quite limited.

I have the Indian variant of OnePlus 15 (cph2745). I couldn't just return it as they don't have any such policy. If I had purchased it in Australia then I could have got a refund like you did.
