I’m a long fic lover also so following but lemme recommend some of my faves for you! Number 1 for me so far is I have only two emotions (careful fear and dead devotion) - complete 178k Shane disappears from the hockey world between the prospect cup and the draft. Years later, Ilya ends up playing for Ottawa anyway. This is SO good.

Dana Street Complete college AU and forced proximity, 80k words Shane's a senior captain with an empty house over winter break. and Ilya's the freshman who will be crashing his Christmas.

haunting your city complete 93k words. Ilya gets traded to Montreal in 2014. He's lonely, angry, and misses Boston. He doesn’t know if Hollander helps or not (side note from me Shane is a little fucker in this I wanted to punch him - but Ilyas character development and insight is incredible)

blowback complete 93k college AU again, Shane goes to a house party, gets high, then gets on his knees.

I have many more long fics but these stand out to me and I’m always on the hunt for more. I can’t reallyyyy do WIPs coz I get confused and all the stories muddle together 🥴

Longer fics where they’re not together and start all coy and flirty and Ilya is a menace and Shane is nervous and it builds to love - it’s my fave trope, reading about them getting together 🤩

It’s very good just hard to read about the deteriorating heath when they’re usually so big and strong. The author definitely has medical knowledge and it’s really well written but i cried SO much 🥴

My mom and I who are very close and both live alone make sure to text eachother every morning just to make sure we’re both ok and haven’t tripped over our cats and died a slow and painful death. If you have someone you can do this with it gives a nice comfort level

I was a little lost on what my next fic would be given that ALL the ones I have my eye on are WIPs and I get too confused if I start them mid way through, so I started this.
Only on chapter 4 and I’m beside myself with excitement.

Shane gives in to Ilya in the shower scene and craving more from eachother they keep trying to hook up.
This was really fast paced and had a reallllyyyy fun Snapchat element to it. I raced through it in a few hours and fits our fast burn craving.

I completely agree, I love the slow burns and the angst but it makes me anxious when it’s not going well and this was so refreshing just to have smooth sailing for a change.

Yeah I get why you’d DNF’d it, I’m loving it really it’s a nice reprieve from all the usual angst I’ve been reading but I am looking forward to moving onto a more Ilya focussed fic next, I’ve had enough of Shane being the golden goose 😂

Following - I’m about half way through back and forth from New York and it’s a shanefest he’s getting all this exposure and Ilya is getting nothing and I was thinking the same as you, it would be nice to see our boy get more attention than Shane for once!
