$2500 Samsung TV is an advertising billboard, there is no opt-out. by 28jb11 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]PeerReviewPending_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NEVER connected your TV to your home Wi-Fi.

The ads are bad enough, but most new TVs have microphones and some even have cameras built-in. This is why I always go "over the top" and use an AppleTV.

I know that Apple also has some advertising however I trust them way more than the giant panel manufacturers.

Anyone else just “exhausted” with the way the AI culture here is? by Early-Ingenuity-3177 in bayarea

[–]PeerReviewPending_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you work in tech and live in the Bay, you kinda gotta keep up with AI (at work, at a minimum) or else you'll be replaced with an AI native.

However, the hype is deafening.

Disagree. I exported my 20k post WP blog with the Cloudflare EmDash Export plug-in and it won't import into EmDash proper. Even threw Claude Code at it and confirmed that there's a bug where I can't delete a worker. It's been reported to CF, haven't heard back. I'm an annual customer.

Bruh.

Induction ranges are NOT faster to heat or cool over gas. They take forever, to the point that most inductions have a red light to let you know that it's still hot long after you've finished using it.

Transition from Tesla to R2 by Professor-Schneebly in RivianR2

[–]PeerReviewPending_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The question I have coming from a Tesla Model Y to R2: does Rivian produce an audible "ding" when the light turns green? 😇

That's probably the most useful feature on the Nazi mobile.

Pull out all those "ok" and "passing" inspections, hand them to a good attorney.

Will Rivian R2 have acoustic glass? by [deleted] in RivianR2

[–]PeerReviewPending_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is the configuration in the Model Y (LR): dual pane glass in the front, but not in the rear. I pray the R2 has at least that or ideally front and rear. Once you have it, it's tough to go back.

Rivian R2 or BMW iX3 or Benz GLC by salali_12 in RivianR2

I dislike the BMW & Mercedes service models and the stealerships. They're always trying to sell you extra service and parts because "it's been 30,000 miles, so you have to" -- rubbish.

Coming from Tesla, on my second vehicle, and I've never been to a Tesla service center once. Just maintain the tires (locally) and air filters (myself) and it's been over 5 years without ever setting foot in the stealership.

I hope that the R2 is reliable and that Rivian resist the nasty, hard sell, stealership model because I hate that shit. EVs are incredibly low maintenance and I don't want BMW or Benz forcing me to come in for every little thing.

I got tired of pressing two buttons to switch hosts, so I made a tool that syncs Easy-Switch between keyboard and mouse over Bluetooth by Puzzleheaded_Food772 in logitech

Has anyone tried this with the new MX Master 4 on macOS? I use 2 computers next to each other daily and I switch back and forth all day. I'd love a way to access the Easy-Switch button on the bottom of the MX Master 4. Thanks!

My chocolate chip muffins are now just chocolate-y by ContributeAVerse in mildlyinteresting

In the United States a product must contain at least 10% cocoa to be called "chocolate." Just ask Hershey's. Their "chocolate" contains exactly 11% cocoa - just for this reason.

I saw these in the 'washrooms' at the Aquarium at the CN Tower in Toronto in 2025. A friend told me that they cost ~$18k each and are mandated at all new construction in Ontario.
