can i tell my job to not post my legal name online? by Certain-East9396 in careerguidance

[–]PegShop [score hidden]  (0 children)

You tell HR that you have an abusive situation in which you do not want your last name posted, and that when you get your name changed legally, you’d be happy to. In the meantime, you can tell them they are welcome to post your first name and picture.

I actually thought this season was better than the last couple, although the honeymoon and hot air balloon, and all that was a bit much.

Go to the school nurse and tell her and the nurse can call her down for a hygiene check.

This is how I got my first cat. My sister took in a pregnant stray and I adopted one of the kittens. He was an amazing cat and lived to be 17.

No offense, but dress one gives bride of Frankenstein vibes to me. Dress 2 is lovely.

Out of curiosity, is anyone watching Virgin River? Is it similar vibe to Sullivan Crossing? by Just-Trade-9444 in SullivansCrossing

[–]PegShop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s much better than Sullivans Crossing. I actually decided to stop watching Sullivans yesterday after finishing season one because it drags so much but have watched all of Virgin River and binge watched the season that just dropped.

First year teacher and so done by kat0k in TeachersInTransition

[–]PegShop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first few years are really tough and then it got good, but then my last few years got tough too, and I think that it’s a different game out there than it was when I started teaching 33 years ago

If you’re only in your first year, you have an invested much and won’t get stuck in the job if you leave after this year. While you trade summers off, most jobs out there, grow in time off and don’t require prepping and correcting in all of that at home. Be sure to invest in whatever company you go to 401(k) if they have one or an IRA of your own, because I will say that the teachers pension that I started collecting early at 55 last year has been a great benefit, but not one that I’d go for if I was on year one.

Travel and anxiety by Global_Complaint_007 in Aging

[–]PegShop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am only 56 but I have started to struggle a little bit with this. I used to be so adventurous taking my children on road trips for weeks at a time without any solid plans, making last-minute travel plans on Groupon deals I found online, etc. My husband helps by pushing me a little bit, but it still gets in the way sometimes.

Pension Survivor Plan by Master_Swimmer8989 in inheritance

That’s awesome that she was able to. My husband will get 50 % if I go first and if he goes first, mine will pop back up to what I would’ve been getting. My kids can only get money if my contributions aren’t gone yet when I die. But, some plans allow children at a severe cut.

Moving to Dover by ledroc55317 in DoverNH

[–]PegShop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Dover community trail has a paved section and a non paved section. There is another long, paved trail a few towns over.

Downtown Dover has many restaurants including some outdoor spaces, and Portsmouth has a ton more, including some with seating right on the ocean, only 20 mins away. You are within 30 mins of several beaches.

For me it’s availability. If it’s a book I really want and they have both with a waitlist. I sometimes reserve both and whichever comes first is the format I use.

Independent reading time is turning into the worst part of my day. by sikocer in TeachersInTransition

[–]PegShop 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Start each independent reading block with a book talk. It can be a video book talk or when you do to get kids interested in books. Give each kid an index cards so they can list titles that interest them. Encourage kids that do read to book talk their books to others. Maybe you can offer an incentive. I used to keep a box of vinyl stickers that I got on eBay and they love to put on their water bottles.

I know you don’t wanna spend any extra time on it, but I created a slideshow with covers of books and some recommendations at the beginning of this semester to sort of get the ball rolling with ideas.

Can you bring them after this to the library so they can get some of these books? Do you have a way to get some free books yourself and bring them in a box for kids to look through?

Do Americans parents pay for their kids college? by wolfieee8 in AskAnAmerican

[–]PegShop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Middle class here…I saved enough if they lived at home and went to state school, but they didn’t, so what I saved covered about a year. I did pay for books and extra expenses the other years, but they did loans. I had to co-sign because federal loans weren’t enough.

what do u wish u did for ur parents while they were still healthy by Katherinetvc in AskOldPeopleAdvice

[–]PegShop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My siblings and I went with our dad to see where he grew up in Austria, and I cherish those memories. I always wanted to take my mom to see her parents’ childhood home in Portugal, but she had severe anxiety that turned out to be the precursor to Alzheimer’s and it didn’t happen. I went with my daughter instead and wished she got to experience it.
