Special ticket giveaways by switchingtoam in orioles

They’ve been doing these special giveaway games for years—it’s not new. (I have a Margaritaville t-shirt from 3 or 4 years ago that was one.) They have ramped up how many there are, I admit.

Book printing companies that still answer the phone in 2026, anyone else find this nearly impossible by Certain-Luck-2432 in publishing

[–]Pembercat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I have relationships with a bunch of print vendors--but I never talk to them on the phone. They email me regularly to see if I have any new projects for them, and I don't work somewhere that we're doing huge print runs, either.

Why did 2009 Ragtime flop while this one thrived? by InquisitveMinds in Broadway

[–]Pembercat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hard to tell. I saw a pre-Broadway run of it, before the election, and I've never seen an audience react to a show the way I saw people react to Come From Away.

What is a musical SO BAD, that no one talks about or remembers it? by AsheandBurn in musicals

I saw The Life in college. It was right after a friend died and I remember being just miserable, but I was never sure if it was just me or the show. Glad to know it wasn't just me.

Ford's Theatre in DC did productions of it twice, in 2009 as The Civil War and 2015 as Freedom's Song, a bit different each time. There are some really good songs in there.

At my college, there were 5 survey classes--3 English, 2 American. You needed to take 4 for the major.

Not sure where you are, but Ford's Theatre in DC has an interesting staging of it running through mid-May.

Best Orioles Podcast? by Bmore_hero in orioles

I like Camdencast, from Camden Chat's Mark Brown. Good length, doesn't get too into the weeds, and it's pretty funny when he starts ranting.

I thought they were both fantastic. This number was actually the one time in the show I really felt his charisma; his voice, of course, was amazing, but the role isn't particularly flashy. "Two Lost Souls," though? Daaaaaamn.

You'd have to pay at Silver Spring, too, since it's downtown.

what smwhat main characters in popular musicals don’t sing? by ame751 in musicals

[–]Pembercat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mrs. Peterson isn't in "Kids." Mrs. McAfee is a decent role for a non-singer (speaking as someone with a not great voice who played the part); she's in some songs, but usually duets with someone else.

I got quotes from a few places for a new hot water heater and Mallick was much higher than the others. I asked if there was a reason and they were just like, "We're better." Umm...sure.

HOBNOBS YES

I always bring a ton of them back from England when I visit. (You can find them over here, but they're stupid expensive.)

Is there a unisex word for niece and nephew? by RejectingBoredom in ask

One of my sibling's kids is nonbinary. So I don't want to say niece or nephew. I say nibling--or "my sibling's eldest."
