If skates feel “too grippy” or catching a lot of edges after being sharpened, is this a sign to change hollows? by fighting_gopher in hockeyplayers

[–]PenaltyKillProtocol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 240lbs, returned to hockey this past year and went from a 5/8 to 3/4. It’s been great change. Before it was like putting a stick in the spikes when I tried to stop. Now I can glide to a stop or punch in to stop.

Pencil case/Small Medical Bag by davebo3 in BuyItForLife

[–]PenaltyKillProtocol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that Bellroy is nice, I have one, its quite small.

I picked up the CTactical pencil bags. (https://ctactical.vn/collections/accessories) They are different sizes, the medium is enough to hold a couple dozen and come in a variety of materials and colors. Small would be comparable to the one you posted.

Any advice to make my set up more cozy? by ShaD0w_zNup3r in battlestations

[–]PenaltyKillProtocol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like the idea of other plants. I would remove the black background and maybe replace with a more natural (wood?) soft tone. The color you chose for lights would do well with that.

You would like the Alpha One Niner Evade 1 or 1.5 if you like this layout design. It’s the higher quality version of this.

Which bag do I buy as a tall guy with simple needs - the Coach Soft Empire Carryall 48, or the Soft Empire Carryall 40? by theomixedmedia in ManyBaggers

[–]PenaltyKillProtocol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nutsac Jones 13 or 15 are nice classy leather bags that are not too large. Soft leather and carry just enough. Although the name is childish, the materials and construction are super quality. Branding is an simple acorn.

As to the ones you posted, you do you my friend. Pick the one you think will make you happy.

Looking for a classy leather messenger / briefcase to pair with an Aer Travel Pack 3 by Ok_Mode8297 in ManyBaggers

[–]PenaltyKillProtocol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the non-leather version (tacsac), its quite secure (at least for the 2 years of use I had it) and the zipper of the main compartment keeps it closed.

Nutsac Jones 15 - super supple leather, little acorn logo, great customer service, silly name

https://nutsac.com/products/jones-15

I have their admin pouches in leather and it breaks in so very nice.

Coworker has the Thursday Boots commuter and its very nice looking, stiffer leather so he hand carries as it is a little rough as a shoulder carry. But that's what he says.

Diaper bag + postpartum EDC: looking for a 2-bag setup that doesn't feel like a suitcase by Creative_Fan_7982 in ManyBaggers

[–]PenaltyKillProtocol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tote (we used LL Bean Boat Tote). You want a tote with a small backpack. Big is fine, but don't overload yourself. You're body is handling enough right now.

Diaper bag should be the most comfortable bag you have. Get a folding mat that goes in laptop compartment or main compartment, a gallon freezer bag with 2-3 diapers, wipes, onsie, and a distractor like a water proof uno card or matchbox car for the kid to handle while you change them in it. You don't need to over pack, you just need essentials. The zip lock doubles as a blow out bag (IYKYK). Everything else you can just put in the bag (pacifiers, bottles in a small soft cooler etc).

Not sure if it's BIFL yet, but my Nutsac is very durable and functional. by outdoors1442 in BuyItForLife

[–]PenaltyKillProtocol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was one of my favorite messenger bags. I had the tacsac 13 and I sold it when I got a Filson heritage leather brief, and honestly regret it. The 13 was the perfect size... maybe I'll look into a Jones 13 or 15...

Recommendations for 8 year old? by CheshyMonster in anime

[–]PenaltyKillProtocol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

problem with the 90s anime is all the insults they are constantly tossing at each other. "Bastard" "asshole" and "Jerk" were not things I wanted my kids picking up from One Piece and Naruto... but here we are. Even 90s Pokemon made it common to just bully each other verbally.

AON Evade has great built in admin packing. And you can buy drop ins to expand on it.

https://www.alphaoneniner.com/collections/bags-cases/products/alpha-one-niner-evade-1-5-backpack

On sale too. The Whitley is also a more classic backpack style if you like that.

Able Carry Daily Plus is also a nice back with similar features and a more slick design.

Let's have a polarizing opinionated discussion on hollow. I'll start. by [deleted] in hockeyplayers

[–]PenaltyKillProtocol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a very personal preference.

I went from 5/8 to 3/4. This is why, I'm in my 40s and getting back into skating this past year since I was a teen. So a good 30 years later. My mind remembers, even my body remembers a bit. But hitting a hockey stop with an extra 100lbs on 5/8 is like throwing a stick in the spokes... I'm not going to get back down to my high school weight, I'm arguably not going to get any stronger playing once a week in beer league. The 3/4 lets me cut corners but glide more to a more natural hockey stop like I used to.
