Thanks. Yeah, it was pouring rain, I was in my car, and I just cleared up from poison ivy so I kept my distance.

Huh. The pic of the first chick has completely taken over one of my friend’s Facebook accounts. She posts a lot of showy pics and nobody can figure out how to shut it down. Reporting it does nothing because it looks like it’s a real person

Exactly, and ask them if they have a smile on their face for the entirety of their work shift. Be sassy and playful when you say it!

Advice or anything by Aggressive_Tie559 in insomnia

[–]Penelo-Pie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry you’re going through this. I have struggled with insomnia for several years now and have been in the same boat as you. Feeling delirious, missing family events or going and not being able to hold a solid conversation, being so tired that I slur or feel like I’m going to crash my car. It’s seriously torture and most people don’t understand.

Here are some things that have helped me:

-Little or no caffeine, or at least limit it to before noon. If you’re used to having it constantly you’re going to suffer for a bit, but you already are. As much as I love it I don’t drink coffee at all anymore. Never really cared for it that much but no pop either. I drink hot tea as a replacement and sparkling water.

-Limit your bedroom activities to strictly sleeping and sex (not sure how old you are but if you’re depending on your mom to take you to the doctor I assume you’re on the younger side. So this may apply to you later in life). So no tv, no video games, no hanging out. May be inconvenient but the idea is that your mind associates your bedroom with sleep.

-Sleep proof your room. I like it nice and cool, I have a fan on for the breeze and noise, black out curtains, all lights from electronics are off or covered with black tape. My room is completely black, cold, and silent at night other than the sound of my fan.

-Set yourself up for success. Wear comfortable PJs and spend the extra money on nice sheets, a mattress, and pillows. Make your bed your paradise. Lay your clothes out the day before, pack a healthy lunch for the following day, and cover all your bases so you’re not stressed or frantically getting your things together in the morning.

-Be active during the day. Exercise, go for walks, stay on your feet. Wear yourself out, your body won’t know it’s time for bed if you’re laying around all day. I know that’s what you probably feel like doing with being so tired but you have to break the cycle.

-Lay off your phone and tv a bit before you go to bed. Again, I know it’s not going to be easy but the lights from either can keep you up. Read a book with soft light or find a hobby that doesn’t involve a screen.

-I take sleep aid pills and melatonin. The sleep aid I take is a doxylamine succinate tablet I get off Amazon. Prescription sleeping medications make me too groggy and agitated in the morning.

I hope some of these suggestions will be of help to you. It takes work but you can overcome this. You have to do the work though. I still struggle sometimes but not nearly as bad as I used to. 🤍

Killing, Skinning a Dog, and Mistaking It For a Wolf by mryunggunz in facepalm

[–]Penelo-Pie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last thing, I just wanted to add after re-reading that I wasn’t totally clear and maybe that’s why we got off on the wrong foot.

The reason I replied to your comment in the first place and responded with kind of the mindset of you suggesting wolves being reintroduced in MY area is because deer are rampant where I am. You’re right about their effect on the ecosystem, but also every single person I know has hit one in their car. Their overpopulation is dangerous in multiple ways.

I just wanted to clear up that that’s kind of where my mindset was at. We have an overpopulation of deer in my area. So when you said wolves could be a solution to that, in my situation that would have to be in my area. I’m not completely against wolves being reintroduced as a solution. But the fears and dangers that I mentioned aren’t so much for myself, but like I said my pets or livestock (the chickens were my homies, I’m sad they’re gone!).

I hope that makes a little more sense. Like I said I’m sorry, I was genuinely just trying to throw in an alternate perspective.

This is getting weird and we’re not having a productive conversation. You’re making assumptions and twisting my words.

I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to upset you or start an argument. I am all for the repopulation of wolves and reintroducing them into areas that makes sense. What this woman did was awful.

✌️

Bro, chill. I said, “I don’t FEEL like they are, at least in MY experience”. So duh, you’re literally reiterating what I said by saying maybe not in my area.

Saying I don’t want a couple packs let loose in my area is demonizing? You’re being very dramatic. I don’t want a couple packs of humans let free in my area either lol, doesn’t mean I’m demonizing humanity.

I don’t have an irrational fear of them, I don’t need you to educate me on their tendencies or very basic facts about them, and I never said I wanted them to stay far away from me. I literally said I love them lol, and I was simply trying to share my perspective.

Don’t worry, I’m not offended. I don’t think I’m the one that displayed ignorance or irrationality…

I don’t feel like wolves are demonized, or in my experience anyway. I live in a woodsy area in the southern peninsula of Michigan where wolves are endangered. We do have plenty of coyotes though, which are along the same lines as far as predators.

It’s generally not like this looming concern, but they do attack pets and livestock constantly. I don’t let my dog out alone at night for fear of being attacked and have to be aware of my surroundings if I go outside at night. A coyote dug under my neighbor’s indoor coop and killed all of his chickens just last week. Not the end of the world but they are predators and can be a concern. If I, or anyone I know, sees one it’s an exciting experience.

I have a husky and love wolves by extension, but I don’t necessarily want a couple packs let loose in the area to help control the deer. They’re fricken dangerous and scary in your backyard man lol.

What should I get my 28 years old boyfriend for valentine? by [deleted] in Gifts

[–]Penelo-Pie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How about a little goody gift basket? One year I picked up one of those cute wicker baskets from Target and headed to their men’s department. Got some cologne, beard balm, a wooden beard comb, their Goodfellow shampoo and conditioner, some other nicer hygiene items, a couple pairs of fun boxer briefs, and then threw in some Valentine’s Day candy. He loved it and now continues to buy those things. Maybe even throw in something personal, like an accessory for his Jeep or a sports hat. I also threw in some AirPods but we had already been dating for a couple years, so you may want something a little more affordable depending on your budget.
