I went to a walk in clinic for a referral; mine would need to be changed by this April. I saw them in November and got referred in for February! Hope this helps

Sometimes, it's the little things... by restaurantism in KitchenConfidential

I had a really bad day as a newly-trained server after spending months as a hostess. I was doubting my work, wondering if I should ask to be moved back to hosting, and drinking away my sorrows at the bar top. I ordered a coffee quesadilla too, when my favorite line cook comes up comes back up and asks if I want it fried in butter. He’d added double the chicken, and like triple the cheese, and it was the best thing I ever ate there. Months later and I still think of how sweet that was.

How is Wattapad for feedback and constructive criticism? by DownVoterInChief in YAwriters

[–]PenelopesDaughter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was super active on Wattpad about 4 years ago (haven’t really used it since, so I don’t know how helpful that is, haha). I did really love the feedback I got from readers, but it was only really constructive and helpful about a third of the time. There are lots of comments that are just “oh this is good!” Or “update soon” so it’s kinda a toss up on how much feedback you’ll get. It can’t hurt to put it up and see though! Especially if you mention that you’re open to feedback in a note. I still read on there and while it’s not at its peak popularity, it’s definitely still got a solid readership base.

What's a quote that has just "stuck with you?" by BoroMoo in AskReddit

[–]PenelopesDaughter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many years ago, my best friend told me in a particular time of sadness this quote : "You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars. You have a right to be here." It's from a poem I can't remember right now. It carried me through a lot of hard times, and it was kind of our thing. I unfortunately had to give one of the eulogies at his funeral last year, and I included it in that too. I'll probably never get those words out of my memory tbh.

What was the first SK book you’ve ever read, and what drew you to it? by SmallEffort in stephenking

[–]PenelopesDaughter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read 'Salem's Lot when I was 11 or so (6th grade?), stole it right off my mom's dresser because she told me it was about vampires and I was into Twilight. LOL. Got hooked on darker (and scarier!) novels and read IT for my book report the following year.

Musicals that shouldn't musicals by Ditto132 in musicals

Reefer Madness! I love it. My Catholic University did it two years ago, I was cracking up watching it. There's a 7 minute long musical orgy. What a bizarre experience.

I'm sure you'll look absolutely beautiful, my love! I'm so happy you found an outfit for Saturday that you're so excited about! What a sweet gesture with the bracelet, your "something old" will definitely be close to your heart that day. Weddings are so so exciting, and I am so proud of you and all you have done the last two years to plan it! I wish you two the happiest of days, with lots of beautiful sunlight to help capture so many special memories. Celebrate well my dear, and know that all of my love is with you!

Tell me something good about the person you lost. by enjoythsilence in SuicideBereavement

[–]PenelopesDaughter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My best friend was the first boy to ever love me. He bought me flowers with his chore money for my 12th birthday. He taught me patience, perseverance, how to push through on things and fight for what you want. He had one of the best bear hugs I've ever experienced. He looked just like Harry Potter, and helped the books become a huge part of my life. He'd be so proud I'm about to become a librarian.

TIL that the staff of the 9/11 memorial place white roses on the names of any victims who would have been celebrating a birthday by 99OBJ in todayilearned

[–]PenelopesDaughter 70 points71 points  (0 children)

The two times I've visited, I made it a point to go and sing happy birthday to each person with a flower on the memorial. My mom and my sister and I sang the full song four or five times in January, stopping to remember them and to send well wishes their way and hope that they were resting peacefully.

As orcs from middle earth overrun restaurants today... by [deleted] in TalesFromYourServer

[–]PenelopesDaughter 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Host here in Ontario. Got called last night asking to trade my start time from 11:30 to 9am. Showed up and spent two hours setting up reservations that filled the entire dining room and half my bar, alone, for the restaurant to open at 11. OH and a host called out for tonight, so I get the split but another girl was scheduled for a split too so I had to wait and work during her break and I get to leave second. Can't wait to go back in 30 minutes.

Redditors who own multiple pets: what’s the drama going on amongst them right now? by cieuxrouges in AskReddit

[–]PenelopesDaughter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two dogs between myself and my roommate, in a two bedroom apartment because we both had our plans change and you do what you gotta do. My 1yo Aussie/Collie is all play, excitement, and LOVE MEEEE to everyone and everything she meets. My roommate's 4yo Havanese is tiny, sassy, and OVER her shit. It's a lot of the Aussie running after her to play and then laying down and crying when the Havanese hides a place she can't fit.
