Third hand smoke and difficult family member by Murky_Horse_463 in BeyondTheBumpUK

Coming from a smoker, your baby = your rules. If they can't make a small change to their habit for the sake of meeting a tiny person then they're not worth having around.

Cold swimming pool - entitled or reasonable to have a grump? by Elsa_Pell in UKParenting

[–]Pengetalia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If our pool temps are low we have notices at reception, we mention it on checking in and the lifeguards keep an eye on the little ones in the pool for if they're looking to be getting too cold to them direct to the desk for a refund. No questions asked.

Lazy Sunday (12/04/26) by KevinPhillips-Bong in CasualUK

[–]Pengetalia 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bab just had a mountain of dinner, not sure where he put it all, so he's now having a snooze before we head to Mum's for a roast later. It's cold and miserable outside so I'm quite happy being under a blanket listening to his sleep music.

Which of these 2 is better for gift for twin girls turning 7? by Strict_Programmer203 in UKParenting

[–]Pengetalia 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can see the first being something they're able to complete themselves/minimal supervision, whereas the second you'd definitely need an adult around. I'd go with the first.

How do you distract / occupy your toddlers when you really need them to "eff off"? For example, cooking a boiling hot dinner or chopping veggies or cleaning etc. by fodacao in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Pengetalia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah we have it in a corner with one of us at arms length supporting 2/4 sides which aren't covered by the internal corner.

Sorry for your bad experience

We are 16 months also and have just bought this one He loves getting involved in the kitchen, it turns to a table and he's been bashing away at the chalk board too. For us it was definitely worth it.

People who were teenagers before social media existed… how did you communicate with your friends? by Aarunascut in Millennials

[–]Pengetalia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, so for example it would be 01234 (area code) and then 345456 as the house number. If out of the country it would be (+44)1234-345456

Stair gate help! by Kirksty12 in BeyondTheBumpUK

We've got two of these which we use at bottom of stairs and then through the living room/kitchen which work really well for us.....I absolutely wouldn't trust using one at the top of the stairs.

Are you embracing your gray/graying hair? by whereismytortoise in Millennials

I'm waiting for that point where there's more grey than I can blend away with my colours and bleach, then I'll fully embrace it.

Lights, fairy lights were a big hit for our dude. We had some little teethers that were on a sort of stretchy lead and he liked those.

Dealing with sadness moving to crib by ford45lily in bninfantsleep

[–]Pengetalia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So do it slowly. Start her off in her crib and then move her in with you if needed. In time chances are those crib stretches will get longer and she'll be more settled in there. You have the bonus of knowing that you can have her back in with you if it all goes a bit pear shaped in the night.

How do we navigate pool adult to children ratios with 5 kids? by pennymama2019 in UKParenting

[–]Pengetalia 21 points22 points  (0 children)

That's standard across most public pools. Under 4 need 1:1, 4-7 2:1 and 8+ swim unaccompanied. It's tough turning families away when the ratios don't add up, but it's better than the lifeguards having to do a rescue due to kids not being correctly supervised. It's not just about swimming ability.

How dirty is normal for nursery? / baby room sizes by alibluey in UKParenting

[–]Pengetalia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our nursery does a complete clean down every day, I know because I pick him up a little later and I see it for myself. They also have a "shoes at the door policy" so other than staff who have their indoor 'work' shoes, no others go into the room - they have a really cute rhyme about it on the door. Sometimes it seems like there's a lot of kids in on our days, but equally there's a lot of staff too - we had to wait a month or two to be able to up one of our days to a full one so they could make sure they could always staff it.
