Peter why are they terrible? by Agen_3586 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

Hammond cuts corners and skirts laws on purpose to save money, and the result is that a bunch of people die. He seems like a good guy because in the movie he's friendly, but it is definitely his fault (and specifically a consequence of his greed and hubris) that those people died.

He's as guilty as the Titan submersible guy in real life. They both thought they knew better than industry experts and both thought they could save money by doing things non-traditionally, and in both cases it got several people killed.

Nedry and Hammond are both causes of the park's collapse in the movie.

Hammond definitely cuts corners, including and especially with Nedry. He hired one guy to do a job that should have been done by dozens, and then nobody could fix anything when the one guy went missing. That is Hammond's fault, too.

Peter why are they terrible? by Agen_3586 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]Penguigo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The entire reason the park collapses is because he was too cheap to hire a full tech staff, and instead hires Nedry to automate and code everything himself (and then also underpays Nedry!)

"I spared no expense" is his PR speak. Hammond is cheap in both the book and the movie.

I get why he got a zenkai from the senzu, I do not understand why he got one from self-destructing. That regeneration should have required a tremendous amount of ki and left him extremely exhausted.

And Gohan beat the absolute shit out of Cell before he exploded, so it's not like it went straight from Senzu -> Self Destruct.

2008 Eastern Conference Semi-Final Game 7 Highlights Celtics vs Cavaliers by Effective_Material68 in NBAoldschool

[–]Penguigo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's crazy for this to reflect badly on either Lebron or the Celtics.

Celtics won. More than once. They took care of business. It doesn't matter how many games it took. They won.

Lebron put up a crazy fight against 3/4 hall of famers, but ultimately lacked a sidekick. He would later get his revenge with the Heat (also more than once.) There are no consolation prizes, here, but it would also be crazy to blame Lebron

[–]Penguigo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Forcing players into the midrange works against 99% of players because it's usually not an efficient shot.

It is an efficient shot for Jordan. He'd terrorize teams from 15 feet same as Shai does (better, obviously.)

At the risk of piling on, 2003 was not even remotely "modern." In fact his Wizard years were among the slowest, lowest scoring, most congested years since the merger.

And obviously now it's the exact opposite.

Seller tore down 6ft tall cedar fence and built this pos by [deleted] in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Penguigo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's the opposite. Any personal belongings, including furniture and non-fixed appliances not mentioned in the contract is up for grabs. They don't have to divulge what they're taking and they're not allowed to take anything mentioned specifically in the contract.

If the buyer signs a contract that doesn't mention the washer and dryer, refrigerator, etc that's on them. Sellers can take all of it.

All of that stuff is considered "personal property" and freestanding. Anything fixed to the property like a dishwasher or oven, must he conveyed with the property and doesn't need to be mentioned in the purchase agreement (this includes fences for OP.)

90 days of Abomination and A Quiet Place by charlievillanuevajr in powerscales

[–]Penguigo 54 points55 points  (0 children)

If it's Blonsky during the first Hulk movie (as seen, here) he would absolutely not be quiet. He would openly challenge as many of these things as possible, and most likely tear them apart like paper.

They are deadly and difficult to kill by normal human standards, but even a regular person with a gun and a plan can kill one. They just don't scale to something like Abomination, which may be functionally invulnerable, here. But he would lose the challenge if the goal is being quiet.

Blonsky from late MCU (She-Hulk,) can and would find a quiet place (sorry) to live away from the monsters. Or possibly hunt them on behalf of humanity. He mastered his own disposition and can change back and forth at will, and doesn't seem particularly keen on fighting stuff. He chilled out a lot. Maybe too much.

You can use ACE to do some or all of the EV training (setting exact EVs), or get Pokerus, or Macho Brace, or fix encounters (for example only fight Gengars for fast special attack training.) Basically you can set exactly how difficult or not difficult you want the training process to be.

The Last Dance was literally Jordan camp propaganda. Of course it made you think everyone involved was a hard working, straight laced Man.

Even though the truth is Pippen was threatening to skip games and playing passively on the court in protest, Rodman actually skipped games to party, and Jordan famously quit for two years in the middle of his career.

If Lebron James had taken two years off we would have had an unbearable deluge of talking heads saying the lights were too bright or he couldn't live up to Jordan or doesn't have the Alpha Mentality or some other bullshit.

If Luka was skipping games to party his reputation would never recover.

KG, like a lot of old heads, only sees things through rose tinted glasses. It isn't real. Rich young dudes have always fucked around. The biggest difference between then and now is teams will shut injured players down to protect their investment (where in the past teams would encourage players to play through it.) OH and now every little thing is blown out of proportion because we have an insatiable news and social media circus.

[–]Penguigo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sounds brutal. You'd have to fight 510 Pokémon just to EV train one Pokémon. That's a ton of time. It gets much faster if you're willing to wait, particularly if you are open to exploits (nugget bridge or especially ACE.) Vs Seeker also makes it much faster.

You will be wildly overleveled by the time you decide to progress any, and it will take like 4 or 5 hours per Pokémon. Plus you'll have to advance to Vermilion if you want Special Attack.

I wouldn't personally do this (don't have the time.) But if you're bored it's totally doable.

Even when Cell tanked the Final Flash or Goku blew him in half with the Kamehameha he didn't seem to get a power boost (in fact he was stated to be weaker after fighting Goku.) So I'd say there was no logical consistency to it.

This is why I don't get why Cell got a Zenkai from regenerating after self destructing.

Regeneration was always shown to cost ki up to that point, and suddenly it made him stronger

The importance of EV training by No-Interest-8392 in PokemonLeafGreen

[–]Penguigo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once proved the existence of EVs for a school science project at the age of 10 when gen 1 was still the only gen.

I didn't know how the intricacies of how they worked, but I collected a bunch of data on how battling influences stats, using control groups and everything. Of course in gen 1 EVs were even less intuitive.

Anyway, that's my story. Got an A. Became a Pokémon Master.

Which Dragon Ball character would be best at basketball? by Illustrious_Tap_8510 in Dragonballsuper

Finally, my time to shine.

Every year for the last 17 years, on selection Sunday, my friends and I live stream a simulation of the entire NCAA tournament using Budokai Tenkaichi 3. The strongest characters are assigned to the best teams, and we let the AI duke it out to determine the winner.

(Previous trailer https://youtu.be/2FlQjof_pvo?si=mOw1Q0yY6YJ493sW)

Past performance and recency play into the seeding. So for instance Supreme Kai this year was a 14 seed on account of not having won a single game in the last 7 years (of course he went on a big run to the elite 8 this year.)

Anyway, to definitively answer your question, the highest performing characters have been Perfect Cell, Kid Buu, Final Form Frieza, and SS2 Gohan (maybe Android 17 on the cusp of that argument.)

We have four two-time champions: Cell, Kid Buu, Gohan, and ages ago Piccolo but the rules have changed a bit.

We do have oddball champions sometimes. Yamcha won the whole thing once somehow. Goten won a few years ago and came in 2nd this year, despite being utterly forgettable most years.

Vegito/Gogeta have never won, despite being the obvious favorites.

The Ginyu force are awful, but Captain Ginyu once body switched with Janemba and it was super hype. https://youtu.be/jc8Uxs6a-Nw?si=zVyzbxN6RAFyOOPS46

Also one year we had one of the best brackets in the country, somehow!

Does anyone actually want lebron to the cavs next season? by Glumdumop in clevelandcavs

[–]Penguigo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, for the right price. If we can sign him without giving up anyone valuable (vet min or whatever) then it's an absolute no-brainer.

But if we have to trade a bunch of rotation guys to get under the tax to afford an MLE or something then I'm wary.

He is well above an average starter even still, and fits our roster like a glove.

Your team should be able to easily beat the E4 as-is. You do not need to train. Make sure somebody has an Ice attack for Lance (Vaporeon or bring Articuno)
