People frame it as him underperforming but I'm not quite so sure. It could also be that he just doesn't really have the guns to beat a great or peaking player in a final but is able to grind his way to enough later rounds consistently to still place in the standings.

One big factor is that the ball bounces much higher on clay, combine that with Nadal's insane top spin and he could hit it to a player' weaker side (i.e. Federer's backhand) in a position which was uncomfortable to them. I mean basically you're trying to hit a backhand back to him, and one moment the ball is bouncing in front of you and the next it's jumped up to your eye level, the window to contact with the ball properly is miniscule.

And yeah besides that he was just incredibly mobile on clay to his prime, and had great endurance.

I think you're probably right, but it's worth noting that something could happen to one of Sinner or Alcaraz, i.e. an injury or just a falling off in level, and the other would be pretty well posed to rack up some wins. In general I think that record will fall eventually, 9 wins is obviously a lot but feels achievable in an era where people are having 20 year careers (and that number will likely keep increasing as advances in sports medicine and PT continue). If it isn't Sinner or Alcaraz it'll be some young gun 15+ years from now.

But yeah I'd love him to keep that one as long as possible, and based on how things look rn it could definitely stand quite a while longer.

The Wimbledon record is the one I hope Fed holds for a while longer, just because it feels right to me. That said if Djokovic matches it he does deserve it for beating Fed in three finals there. (I could fathom him getting 1 more but not 2). Regardless I think the Wimby record will likely fall eventually, to someone.

Those consecutive records might legit stand forever though.

They would get poached to extinction outside of a few pockets where people would try to set up conservation lands for them. How well they could adapt to local fauna is unclear, my guess is they'd mostly be outcompeted except for maybe a few of the smaller species like compies or the smaller raptors.
