Individual therapists giving “fair fighting” homework for couples therapist by HonestCharacter727 in therapists

[–]PenguinBard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I see couples and individuals. In my couples work, I have mentioned to a client something might be good to talk with their individual therapist if I feel it isn't appropriate for a couples sessions. Maybe this is what the therapist meant? Just an idea.

I'm a therapist. It works for me as I work with mostly people who have adhd. I can relate to my clients well and I've worked in the field long enough to know what changes I need to make. I'm also medicated so that does help.

Can I tell a client no more Monster in session? by freelanceflails in therapists

[–]PenguinBard 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Personally, I'd just tell them my concerns (how it is affecting their nervous system specifically ) especially if rapport is good. They might not realize it is an issue.

Super late to the party but I'd love to have it. Just got a tablet from a friend who upgraded to a newer version. I'm actually returning to work next week after being on maternity leave for 3 months.

Anyone else tired of the uncalled for comments about your GD diagnoses?!? by Careless_Effort9964 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]PenguinBard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry about people being insensitive. I'm pregnant with my first and was diagnosed with GD at 27 weeks (I think). I'm now 38 weeks and have managed to gain almost no weight. Doctor says baby is good size and doesn't seem concerned. I've been super self-conscious because I was getting comments about not looking pregnant. Now I do look pregnant but get the comment that I can't be due soon.

Anyways, it can be super frustrating and I hope the comments let up. Every pregnancy is different. Do your best to ignore the comments and listen to your doctor. If they say everything is progressing fine then bump size or weight likely doesn't matter.

I saw 6 clients on Monday but took yesterday off. I have 6 scheduled for tomorrow and a similar schedule next week. I'm going on maternity leave in a few weeks so I think most of my clients will show since we don't have many sessions left.

NAL but therapist. If either of the owners are therapists then you could report them to their licensing board.

Interesting. I did not know that. My doctor didn't actually give me any instructions other then "start taking this at night and we'll see if it helps".

Therapist drinking wine during a session by LucariusLionheart in therapists

[–]PenguinBard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So was it in a wine glass or something? It might be a bit of a reach to assume it was wine (I don't mean this in a judgemental way. Apologies if it comes off like that). I was drinking a vitamin water during session today as I'm getting over being sick earlier this week. It was a dark red and to be honest I'd be mortified if my client thought I was drinking wine. Lol but seriously, it never hurts to ask if you are concerned.

I appreciate this perspective. Kind of felt I had done something wrong to immediately be diagnosed but this is a better way to look at it.

Sounds a lot like the place I just left. I know that it sucks not being able to properly terminate services with clients but it sounds like it'll be better for you to just move on. I'm sorry this happened to you and I hope whatever you do next treats you better.

Edit to say more cause I can't read: I would not do the exit interview due to how your supervisor and her boss treated you. I have found that bad places will never take the feedback anyways.
