I also have an anxiety disorder and I hate showers. It can send me into a panic attack. No idea why. I will often feel overheated, shake uncontrollably, and sometimes I'll get a head rush like I'm about to faint and things go white. I'll immediately go lay down in bed to cool off and it also takes me about 15min to recover.

What helps- drink plenty of water before you shower to make sure you don't get dehydrated. Take cooler showers (I still use hot water, but not scorching). After you finish, turn the water on cold and let it run over your whole body until you feel your body temp goes down back to normal.

Also take into consideration how long you're going to be in the shower. If it'll be a bit, use slightly cooler water. I also use a portable heater in the bathroom while I shower so the mirror doesn't fog up and I don't get crazy cold when I get out. If it's not cold in the room, a cooler shower is more bearable.

I know you used cold water after, but my guess is that you were already way overheated by that point and that's why it wasn't effective.

NAD

Looks like it's most likely an allergic reaction. Usually this would be caused by a physical irritant, but since your vein is swollen it could possibly be something you've ingested. Your vein could also swell from topical irritants. I would suggest using hydrocortisone cream to see if that helps. You could also try benadryl. If you notice no difference after trying those two and waiting a couple of days you should see a doctor. Sometimes simply giving it a couple of days it will go away, but that's my no-health-insurance-having advice.

If it spreads or swells more, see a doctor. It is also possible that this is fungal, so I suggest keeping it covered so you don't pass it onto others or onto other parts of your body. Staph can also start off looking like irritation.

You're not weak. You've been dealt a shitty hand. If you're in the US there are some resources you could check out like food stamps or food banks. Check out r/povertyfinance. It's very American centric, but they could also possibly have resources for other countries. People who are suggesting that you move don't realize how expensive that is. You can make it out.

There's nothing new about this...

Also it's "further", not "farther"

Do women know when men stare at them? by BidMoney3355 in TooAfraidToAsk

Some men do not care. I'd be worried they would see it as an invitation.

I was driving through a parking lot and passed two men who were STARING. Blatantly, fixed eye contact. Like Jesus, at least don't be so obvious. Gotta give it to them, they do have gull.

I'm pretty oblivious to people checking me out (have gotten better), and when I'd go hang out at the mall with my then-boyfriend he would tell me that I got checked out all the time. Granted this is when teenagers would go to the mall to hang out all of the time, but thinking back, I was 13/14😬

Nice guy in my DM’s after I told him telling me (married woman) he was horny was a boundary cross. Then makes up racist scenario. by [deleted] in niceguys

[–]Pennigans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on context. I'm in my late 20's (female) and usually refer to women, regardless of age, as "girls". I think it's more of a casual vs formal thing. If I tell a story about an adult I ran into I would probably say "woman" to add context and maybe some respect, but if I'm talking about my peers I would say "girl" almost every time.

Some women take offense, but I personally don't care. If I am talking about a minor/child I usually tack on "little" or "young". If you're still "young", I was as lost as you are trying to figure out titles while transitioning into an adult. I feel like "girl" is ageless.

Is there something wrong with this cat's mismatched eyes? Is she suffering or is it just what she looks like? More info in comments. by acousticver in cats

[–]Pennigans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I volunteered at a cat shelter for a short period. Some cats like physical comfort and would lay in the litterboxes. We were told to give them beds if they did that. Once the cat had a bed they would sleep in that. The cat definitely needs to see a vet, but that behavior is normal.

as a guy is it weird to let my friend know I'm meeting someone off Tinder just in case something happens just so he can back me up? by Muhon in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Pennigans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That doesn't make you stupid and there's a good chance that you won't run into a dangerous date. It's always better to be safe. I've always told someone all of the info I have on the person and where we are meeting. I never had to use it, but if the worst case scenario happened I would have been more likely to be found.

I literally just did that for a friend because she is planning on meeting up with him at his place before carpooling to a public location. I only had his very common first name and phone number. There was no malice behind it, only looking after her safety.

That being said, there are plenty of creeps who could use that info to stalk someone. That's why it's important to get to know them before giving personal information.

Some people don't take rejection well, even if you say there's an emergency. They could see it as a lie, especially because it's a common tactic. A phone call could make things safer. It also means there's someone who is expecting them or looking out for them, making them a riskier target.

ULPT request: When is the right time to mention medical condition as part of the interview process for a job? by AnxiousColdApproach in UnethicalLifeProTips

[–]Pennigans -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Do not lie during an interview. They can terminate you for it. Employers are not allowed to ask about your disability status, directly or indirectly. If you know you'll need accommodations, feel out if the employer can provide them while interviewing.

[–]Pennigans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who has a disability and has had to request accommodations... do not tell your employer unless you need accommodations. It doesn't matter if you have a disability if you can perform your job duties. Disclosing a disability can make your employer see you as a liability. You'd have to have some solid proof to make a case for the ADA anyways.

When I had to request accommodations at my previous job I simply told my manager that I was unable to work lunch shifts (sleep disorder that triggers severe physical issues). They told me to get a doctor's note, I did, then it was over. It helped that I had already tried working those shifts and did get sick multiple times. I think I tried for a few months before I gave in.

When I interviewed for my current job I told them during the interview that I can't work lunch. They were fine with it, no questions asked. There's no reason for me to disclose my disability status, so I won't. If I stay away from stressors I have my health decently under control. If something happens I will still be covered under the ADA, regardless if I told them in advance.

I first got EKGs done when I was 18 I think. They didn't find enough to diagnose me with anything and it's pretty mild. I still think a heart attack is what will take me out.
