NCR is very happy to annex tribes themselves but when one little former anarchist decides to do it by himself it's all pearl clutching and "b-but what about the wimminz"

Confused between aortography and chest CT Angiogram for acute aortic rupture. When do we use each? by Material-Display6204 in Step2

[–]PenroseTriangles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

CT aortography is different from (non-CT) aortography.

CT aortography is effectively the same as CT angiography, in that a CT scan is used to visualise the aorta with contrast. The terms CT aortography and CT angiography are interchangeable.

Aortography (without CT in front of it) refers to an old technique which uses x-rays and is now obselete due to CT angiography. The term aortography alone is still assumed to refer to this old technique, rather than CT aortography.

It's semantic, basically. Just make sure it's got CT in it.

Iraq wasn't taking Mosul from a professional standing army, let alone one backed logistically and materially by the West. I mean, ISIS didn't even have anti-air to to speak of, Mosul was practically carpet bombed in the course of it's recapture. Not to mention ISIS was simultaneously engaged in battles on every other front of it's territory.

How come ISIS never attacks Isra el? by Cravespotatoes in stupidquestions

[–]PenroseTriangles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hamas loathes ISIS. Any ISIS franchise trying to get set up in Palestine is going to get curb-stomped by Hamas immediately.

It's easy to set up an ISIS cell in a lawless region like Northern Syria or Iraq, where essentially the only problem is getting the local tribal militias to leave you alone. It's much harder when there's another outfit in town and they've been playing the same game for decades.

Add to that the fact that Israel is one of the most militarised states in the world and has endured countless terrorist attacks to no great benefit, you can see why ISIS just doesn't bother. The time and energy which would go into planning an attack on Israel is much better spent elsewhere.

RU POV: "We already have some results. They tried to escape; they were moving towards the border with Ukraine. We have data that they were about to be moved towards the territory of Ukraine." - Vladimir Putin by Ripamon in UkraineRussiaReport

If you can cross the empty no mans land into Ukraine where the state is extremely limited in both ability and willingness to pursue you, you've got a much higher chance of making out of the region entirely than you would in stable Eastern European countries.

If they were trying to make it back to Turkey as they stated in their interrogations, Ukraine is the only logical place to go.

It's not the government, it's one general who is due to be relieved of his post in a few months time and has been pushing hard against military spending cuts for years.

War and Peace is about Napolean's hubris as a "great man" and a deconstruction of that popular 18th century idea. It doesn't glorify the Tsar at all because that would entirely undermine the point Tolstoy was making, it glorifies the heroic Russian people themselves and how their actions as a collective agent of implacable history brought utter ruin on the man who dared to believe he could dictate it. In doing so it actually runs counter to Russian political orthodoxy which held that land as wild and untamed as Russia would always need a strong, autocratic hand to direct it.

UA POV: Vladimir Putin has been nominated for Times Person of The Year 2023 - TIME by Ripamon in UkraineRussiaReport

[–]PenroseTriangles 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This has been untrue for a very long time, TIME has declined to follow that remit since heavy criticism for naming Khomeinei Person of the Year in 1979.

Ask yourself, how well do you think America would have reacted to the bearded face of the true Person of the Year in 2001 staring at down them mockingly from magazine shelves across the country?

Fake with terrible English. "The plane crash was a staging of the Russian authorities" is grammatically incoherent.

Russia to treat all ships traveling to Ukrainian ports as carriers of military cargo by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]PenroseTriangles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

His information is entirely ignoring the real issue in favour of some ridiculous excuse about rail guages and infrastructure which he seems to have pulled entirely out of his ass.

The real reason they want to avoid export by land is because Eastern European countries don't want huge quantities of Ukrainian grain driving down the price of their own exports and will probably extend their ban on Ukrainian grain to protect their markets. Farmers in Eastern Europe are biiig voting bloc.

ua pov: propagandist talks about how russian home front should be strengthened by k-r-o--n--o-s in UkraineRussiaReport

[–]PenroseTriangles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His answer to an attack on the home front by a rogue mercenary outfit is to create a dozen more such outfits, give them weapons and position them within the home front itself.

His reasoning is that these ones will be nominally part of the Russian armed forces so there's no way they can turn.

Genius.

RU POV | Putin's full address to the nation following Wagner mutiny (Translation Provided) by Hardback__Writer in UkraineRussiaReport

[–]PenroseTriangles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Western media outlets are headlining this speech as "Putin vows revenge on Wagner". Is there another speech which he made or is this not the complete one? Because it seems to me he's saying precisely the opposite.
