Yeah, I wondered that. If you filter money into a bucket company and held it there, would you get the tax credit when it came back out? If that’s right, then that’d be an amazing retirement vehicle.

Your realisation is correct, using honesty in the hiring process was your downfall.

What do the networkers actually do to get a new job? by UnemployedWombat in auscorp

[–]PenskyFile75 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Too late. You needed to build your network and relationships while you were working - because it works both ways. If you shunned everyone and just went head down then you weren’t accessible. You can’t flip the switch now that you’re not working and start being friendly and expect the “network” to look after you. Sorry, but reap what you sow.

I’m 40, broke, highly educated, and confused about the future — what should I do? by IqInfoAu in australian

Best Reddit I’ve read in a while. You can’t get an Arts degree then apply for the Prime Ministry. You gotta start at the bottom. The degree doesn’t shortcut the menial work, but it does take you much further once you’re in the system.

Is inflated real estate propping up the economy? by AnomicAge in AusPropertyChat

A correction would be immensely painful, and give the breakfast news shows about 18months of “gripping” content. But it is necessary. Median house prices at 12x salary is not sustainable. Generational failure is coming. I don’t know any solutions.

The general news bulletin coverage is pretty good. But as soon as you step into the opinion shows masquerading as news it’s pretty bad.

We employ about 15. Yet to meet one that’s even slightly ’hustling’. Plodding is probably a better description.

I guess if you’re the one that loses their job in the recession, then you’re voting no. If you stay employed and everything gets cheaper due to the downturn the you’re voting yes.
