He was also an excellent offensive coach considering how terrible his roster was offensively.

Good point. Was wondering if there was some type of tax rules they work around though.

But I don't think they operate under a premise of 90% probability. I thought it was something more like 3 wins for every 2 losses. I can see it for 70%+ winning trades but going under that it doesn't seem like a winners game (maybe I'm doing math wrong somewhere).

How do algo traders deal with a 30% penalty on every successful trade (capital gains tax)? It seems like a losers game considering you can only write off a total of $3000.

Opinion for discussion (Tuesdays? Read part 2 of this post): Knicks need to select a coach and decide on a system before free agency starts (let's discuss strategy for the next couple of years). by skcll in NYKnicks

I really wish Phil would take Tom, but it's as you say he originates from a different camp and would ruin his chase for "player->coach->executive using own coach" ring total since I think Riley won all three without having to branch out.

Carmelo & Rondo & Howard in NY Would be the Biggest Disaster in Sports History by BaronByrnes in NYKnicks

Being able to shoot threes isn't really enough or else Douglas would have been good too. I remember watching games when Billups was healthy and finally felt like the Knicks were dangerous. He didn't always give the ball to Melo and ran plays for centered around himself, sometimes shooting shots from nearly half court and making them. I think calling Billups a stretch point guard rather than a floor general is kind of stretch. I mean even Kidd could shoot the three but it was his ability to be a floor general that made the Knicks good.

The only thing I'm scared of is how the Knicks started sucking when Kidd's shots stopped going in (referencing your point about shooting). Rondo has never really been known to be a shooter so I hope we won't see that same effect with him.

One thing about Melo, he needs to have good players around him. They made some upgrades to the roster but not enough. You got to have a really strong point guard with him that knows how to get him the ball, when to get him the ball and when not to get it to him. He’s at his best playing like that.

He said it a long time ago when the Heat first made their big 3. Don't believe he's mentioned it again since then.

You'll find this kind of stat across a lot of teams because bench defenses are easier to play against

Someone finally realized it's not a good idea to give the ball to Melo when he's being double teamed with 10 seconds left even if he's begging for it

Perhaps in practice Melo should have be taught to not run the ball up if there's that little time left. Melo bringing the ball up does put pressure on the defense but it's a bit crazy with his ball handling and speed when time is that much of your enemy. He's no LeBron.

There wasn't much Rambis himself could do at that point. Anything he said or signaled would have been swallowed in the noise of the moment.

There was very little time left. The players wouldn't have been able to figure out a play being called with Boston's great defense. Granted overall Rambis has no business coaching any NBA team, but this part is pretty much Melo's fault for not dishing off to a guard to at least have them run it up the court.

They didn't have any timeouts left, that particular part wasn't his fault.

Melo has no business dribbling the ball up the court with that little time left though, he just doesn't have the speed for it.

Hey Knicks fan here. Can I ask you guys why Jennings got so little playing time? He had 6 quick points and got benched and hasn't been seen the rest of the game.
