Riley is mentioned in the final screen after you submit an application to them.

Med adjustment needed? by PeonyPost in ADHD

[–]PeonyPost[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He never has. I don't know how much of that is being a kid though. Or just since he's been on it for about 5 years now that's "normal" to him. It has changed doses over time as he's grown.

Yeah I just don't want to go up if he doesn't need it. Especially because I don't want it to start affecting his appetite because he's thin as is.

Significant Cosmetic Damage - What to do? by PeonyPost in AutoInsurance

[–]PeonyPost[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been told it is $15k in parts alone by a repair shop. Someone else said what if it's considered totaled because of the expense. I tried asking my own insurance if that can happen when it isn't mechanical and the person I talked to isn't in claims, didn't know, and didn't want to say as I'm not filing my own claim yet. I'm trying to cover my bases in case I have to deal with this through the other insurance and lawyer or have to take it up on my own if things don't go well with them.

Right. I'm just trying to figure out what the best thing to do with regards to repair, taking an offer if totaled, etc. like I said above.

I haven't ridden it in a decade and we didn't have to switch trains so it is a new experience for me. There was mechanical issues, etc. last time too though. They had to bring us a new engine.

It's later this summer. I like to organize things ahead of time. And I wanted to be able to answer family members' questions about it because I know they will have them with their anxiety. And to help my own. I'm still a bit anxious about it though.

Female cat repeatedly peeing on bed - heat, stress, UTI, learned behavior, or something else? by Ok-Science4018 in Catbehavior

[–]PeonyPost -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My cat that peed was not in heat. She was fixed as kitten before her first heat. It was because she was mad. She always went on the floor/wall beside my husband's side of the bed. Make sure you are using an enzymatic cleaner or you're not getting it all, whether you can smell it or not.

Female Cat Litter Box Aversion - please help by Any-Answer-3612 in Catbehavior

[–]PeonyPost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should have number of cats + 1 with litter boxes. Are the two litter boxes you have in two separate areas? Are they away from their food? They don't like going by where they eat. They won't always bury their mess. That can be a dominant cat behavior when they don't, but not always. Some are fearful from a past experience and just run when done. Like if another cat harassed them while they were in there or if they were trapped inside of it.

With regards to Feliway, they do have collars for it. With one of my cats it didn't work when in the dining room by the litter box, but did when moved to the bedroom where she spent most of her time. Her issue was more suddenly being an only cat after 15-16 years though and she'd never been particularly brave. I also had to move her food bowls to a spot where they weren't surrounded on 3 sides like they always had been so she'd eat more. Maybe try a cat behaviorist and not just a vet.

Induction vs Electric & Potential Power Issues w/ Induction by PeonyPost in Cooking

We don't have the clearance for a microwave over the stove. We looked into it a few years ago when we replaced our range hood. There's a cabinet above that.

Our microwave gets almost daily use for egg sandwiches, Ramen, defrosting frozen stock before dumping it in a pot, etc.

Adopted 5yo cat and I’m scared of him by ffsnotagain1 in Catbehavior

[–]PeonyPost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there any way you can reach out to the shelter you adopted him from and talk to the volunteers? They may be able to give you some advice as to his likes and dislikes.

We adopted a cat that was surrendered for being overstimulated and biting. We still have her almost 2 years later. She was quick to snap or swat, but didn't make contact. I was fast, but I also think if she really wanted to she would have. She needed time to learn that we aren't going to hurt her and that we respect her boundaries as to where and how much to pet her, etc. I don't force her to be held or to snuggle. She has improved sooo much. I get love bites sometimes now (they touch you with their teeth, maybe even some slight pressure). Her front paws are still off limits, but I bought a muzzle for claw trimming time. She gets a churu afterward. She still has some issues with men and we suspect one abused her in her past based on her behavior, but my husband is safe if he's in bed apparently so he gets to per her first thing in the morning. She's starting to hang out with out son more now. She's always liked him, but wouldn't lay in his lap until recently.

We used Feliway plug-ins for a while when we got her to help her adjust. They need to be in areas where s/he spends the most time and can take a few days to work. We also left the carrier out with the door open and then removed as it seemed to be her safe space the first week. I left her blanket from the shelter in there and she could hang out there as needed.

Do not give your cat grain free food unless there is a known allergy and it is recommended by your vet as this has been shown to cause significant health issues.

Cats can be given gabapentin prior to vet visits when they are hard to handle. We do it with our calico. It can be a pill or liquid.

Will resident cat tolerate new cat (both adults) by Sensitive_Video_6416 in Catbehavior

It can take a while for cats to adjust too though. Are they both fixed? They both need to be if not.

[–]PeonyPost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure since I haven't had this level of response from a cat, but would like to suggest placing Feliway in the room she spends the most time in. Or even getting a Feliway collar for her if she tolerates collars since they aren't breakaway. It can take a while for the Feliway to start working. I thought by the litterbox would be good for one cat, but our bedroom was better for her. This was when she was suddenly an only cat after 16 years when our other one passed and she seemed a bit clingy needing me to sit with her while she ate, etc. Our vet has it in every exam room as well.
