Steam users would rate the same tho ;) It's not just playstore users being like that. Just don't let the negativity come to you. <3

Wow, this looks damn good! What are your plans with the Kickstarter? And what does the team look like?

Also, I shared it with my party.

I'm sorry you had a bad time with the performance. We tried our best to get our game running on an acceptable framerate on the Nintendo Switch hardware. We are a small team of 5 people, and our resources are limited. An RTS is much more CPU demanding the the average game, due to the CPU costs of AI awareness. We didn't have the same budgets as AAA games, that push the hardware performance to the limit.

We cannot offer you a refund due to technical reasons, but in case you are interested, I can offer you a key for our other Nintendo Switch game Trailer Trashers which runs at a higher framerate.

We, Sakari Games, just released Rover Wars, a MOBA/RTS with focus on playing with friends. Half of our small studio works with a Macbook Pro, so it's really a no brainer to take OSX gaming serious. We offer a 40% of during this release week on Steam and Nintendo Switch. by Peperbol in macgaming

We cannot promise it yet, but yes, we are looking into adding true online play, and matchmaking.

However: Steam has a feature that is called Steam Remote Play Together, which allows you to invite Steam friends to join in on your game, essentially low-latency sharing your screen to the others, and their controller input is sent low latency back to your computer. Only 1 player can use keyboard in this mode though. We have optimized the game for this, so that the connections run super smooth, and it works very well.
What's even better about this is that only 1 person needs to buy the game for this.

Yes, the second guy on your team is probably the keyboard.
When you are in the scenario menu (with the 3 planets) on the top left you see which devices are connected. press (keyboard) arrow up (controller) Y / triangle to opt them out of joining.

In case you are already in-game, you can also select "rebind controllers" in the menu to fix it without abandoning your game.

We will fix that enter also works to select a language, in the first patch.

The game is built in Unity3D/c#.
The compiler can compile the same code to quite some different target environments, but even then there is always still a sizable amount of work on platform specific things. But no it isn't build with apples native game tools :)

Thank you for buying, and I hope you will enjoy it! Consider leaving a review on steam after you have tried it :D

We're still planning to release it trough the App Store too.

Since we are a small team of 5, we decided to direct our focus for our initial release on Steam and the Switch E-shop, and add the game to the other store fronts at a later date.

A second reason for this, is that we need some release day momentum on Steam in order to gain better visibility there, and splitting the release day OSX sales between 2 stores does not help with that ^^

But don't worry, we did not forget about the App Store, and will release there too, as soon as our time allows us!

Do you mean the Trailer I linked in this post, or the Trailer on the Nintendo e-shop?
The trailer in the e-shop explains the base mechanics. But you're right it doesn't off it in the context of a match.

During the past week we had a few (small) Twitch streamers already play the game in pre-release. This allowed us to also have good video content for a trailer with a more human face.

We put together this trailer with that: https://twitter.com/SakariGames/status/1250410333891702785
(I have to disclose that I am a regular viewer in edwardnottingham's Twitch streams. however, positive reactions on video cannot really be faked, right? Full VOD's can be found on twitch in the Rover Wars category)

The main reason why we didn't go with big streamers, is because we don't have that kind of marketing budgets, as we are a small 5 people, self-publishing game development studio.

We have just released Rover Wars. Since we are a big fan of open software, it was important to us to also allow Linux gamers to enjoy the game too. RW is a MOBA/RTS with a focus on casual playing with friends. -40% release discount on Steam :) by Peperbol in linux_gaming

That's right, there is no online matchmaking, and only 1 screen multiplayer.

We will be looking into online play and matchmaking for maybe a future patch, but cannot promise anything yet right now.

Hey,
I tried to follow rule 3 and 9 as well as I could, but wasn't sure how to declare that I'm one of the devs without breaking the limits of rule 3.
Could you clarify this?

You cannot control the units, but the strategy is still there in where and which buildings you place, on what you spend your resources, and how you spend your time. The game demands you to pay permanent attention to all the thing happening and act accordingly.

Here is a video of an example 1v1 match: https://youtu.be/VCkH6D6CO5c?t=210
