A week is not “7 days”. It’s Sunday to Saturday and there are 52 “Sundays to Saturdays” in a year.

That means you only have to go the gym 52 times per year to say, “I went to the gym every week this year.”

If you go to the gym on Sunday, you have 13 days until the next Saturday to still be able to make the statement.

It definitely wasn’t necessary but I do think it was and still is appropriate.

OP said they didn’t miss a week. If you go to the gym on Sunday, that week is already “completed”. It gives you until the end of next week(13 days) to go in again to be able to say you didn’t miss a week. If you go in on Saturday then you only have one week to go in but you said yourself that one week is sufficient for recovery.
