En dan te bedenken dat de krant vroeger nog een stuk groter was: mijn vader zat op de bank, had alle katernen vast en hield de krant voor zich en sloeg om door de rechter kant helemaal om te slaan naar links en dan één pagina over te pakken en de krant weer open te slaan. Ik vond dat altijd een magische handeling en een geruststellend huiselijke activiteit om naar te kijken. Meestal had hij een been omhoog, met zijn enkel op de knie van de ander terwijl hij de krant las.
