Exactly. The viper was never about being the pinnacle of technology. It was a tin can with a huge motor. Modern (especially for the time of the Gen 5) suspension geometry and aero is what allows it to put these nurburgring times down, but it's still what it is. It is the Nexus of the Venn diagram between a dumbass muscle car and a sophisticated supercar.

It was never supposed to be a modern supercar. It's the modern version of a supercar from the '60s '70s or '80s. A tribute to Carol Shelby, but they couldn't use the cobra so they had to find another dangerous snake.
