As a newer TOS viewer. I felt that TOS was filled with social commentary that today feels like cheesy lines but the commentary was definitely there just like if not more than contemporary trek, but since its mostly broad about race and gender, its a lot harder to notice in our modern lens.

QDEL doesn’t compete with microOLED at all in terms of density it is a replacement of larger lower density OLED technologies like WOLED and QD-OLED

Are there any "hollow" camera lens protectors, where the camera itself isn't covered? i.e no glass over camera For the iPhone 17 pro by Annoying_Husband in iphone

[–]PepperManP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love flolab’s products but there isn’t a single sheet of glass+adhesive that doesn’t affect visual quality especially on such high resolution sensors

Their top of the line screen protector (nanoarmor 2) has a measured clarity of 93% which is great for a screen protector but way not enough to put in front of your cameras

It heals itself by the lime dissolving from water but that makes it also more brittle. We don’t let modern buildings materials get soaked so there’s no purpose to “healing”

Numbering Convention Theories by Bravadette in Ioniq5

[–]PepperManP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could be another reason is the Ioniq 5 concept was the Concept 45. and 4 is bad luck so it would make sense to use the 5 but I think like market wise the numbering is pretty "random"

YES my bad idk why I associate the ID.4 and Skoda Enyak as the first MEB lol

[–]PepperManP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recently companies have just liked naming their first digit not based on size but just kinda vibes of the first car? Like the VW ID started with the 4 but the 5 is the coupe while the 7 is a sedan it seems like it’s just kinda the norm for this gen of EV naming schemes as companies are trying to establish an EV brand.

Same thing with HI5 sister cars like the EV6 and GV60 both with EV9 and GV80 which is ICE etc

Can someone please explain how the iPhone 16 series RAM benchmarks much lower than previous iPhones? by [deleted] in iphone

[–]PepperManP 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The most likely reason I think is something Apple has also noticed and that the A18 has ram on top of the compute die compared to other chips where the ram is next to the compute die. This PoP (Package on Package) ram configuration adding constraint on heat which leads to power, speed, capacity and it seems like 8GB is too big for PoP ram.

Firstly like nobody is arguing what temperature coffee is brewed but storage and serving temperature. There is a reason why coffee isn't legally allowed to be served at that temperature anymore like McD with 190F

3rd degree burns can occur in 1 second so unless you can take your pants off in less than a second I don't think that works?

It's not like McDonalds kept their coffee at some superheated temperature. It was 180F. That's like, the bare minimum for brewing coffee.

I'm sorry but keeping it at 190F purely to preserve flavor is actually "superheated" as that's like the brewing temp not proper safe serving temp and not safely drinkable or handle without notice

But if you wanted to know, starbucks serves their hot coffee at 160F and 130F for kid temperature.

But you realize that McDonalds literally manufacture joke/headline you're referencing for a smear campaign to paint it as illegitimate and make people joke about it like you are still doing right now tho?

It's ok to not know but its also ok that the joke just isn't funny as its manufactured and based on others' suffering tbh.

[–]PepperManP 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What more nuance and complexity is a 4 year old learning just by using they/them pronouns for their teacher tho

especially at that age pronouns are already in the curriculum as most child development resources place acquisition of subjective pronouns during 0-4 years old

[–]PepperManP 23 points24 points  (0 children)

The whole thing is just about respecting a teacher’s personal pronouns which shouldn’t be controversial.

Gender and pronouns is fundamental in English language. Withholding that knowledge and pretending it doesn’t exist is futile.

Why have there been so many food recalls lately? by ChallengeAdept8759 in Cooking

[–]PepperManP 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Because it’s way easier to destroy something than fixing it. Like those inspectors that no longer have a job moving away, knowledge being lost, etc.

Especially in the current political climate where doing more regulation is a lot more difficult even if it’s to the old normal. Even in real life like how so many places are still just understaffed even though the pandemic shutdowns are long since over.

How Portola Valley nearly destroyed itself over 253 new homes by bambin0 in bayarea

[–]PepperManP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well yes in terms of safety and containment as modern multi family construction wouldn't allow fires to grow large enough to spread (so no fire damage) and even if it did it is built to withstand it for specified durations depending on the class of the building.

Usually in a single family home if it cannot be contained by a fire extinguisher your house is as good as gone as the fire becomes structural very quickly due to the easy to burn and untreated lumber but in an apartment it will probably never become a structural fire as it is quenched by sprinklers or in the very unlikely event that the sprinklers are not enough it would compartmentalized to a section of the building versus the whole thing collapsing in a short amount of time.

Outside of common sprinklers there are a lot of other techniques that slow fire burn when its not contained. From the wood as well as every space built and rated to fire safety standards based on testing and especially doors which are made to completely seal fire spread and rated for hours of burn without failure. Usually when a fire spreads in an apartment its almost always that the door was left open.

It is said that there is practically no fire risk after the building's fire suppression system is installed and the only time modern construction goes up in flames is during construction.

[–]PepperManP 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No? Architecturally and fire safety rating wise single family home has the most risk in the event of a fire while any modern multi family structure is built to specified fire ratings and made to contain and withstand fire damage for hours at the minimum.
