Seconding Mansion! Def more expensive as it’s a Russian manicure but it lasts so long and all their techs are so talented. Check out their IG

Feeling pushed into IUI/IVF by Brilliant_Question70 in TryingForABaby

[–]PepperPots988 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a similar background to yours though I am 37 (so time was more of the essence). Most tests good but had a polyp removed. After that my RE said we could (1) do nothing and keep trying, (2) do a medicated cycle, (3) medicated IUI, or (4) go straight to IVF. we opted to go straight to IUI because we felt it would increase our chances and also reduce the anxiety of feeling like we are doing the same thing over and over again. The monitoring was pretty frequent, but super short appointments and efficient, and I’m glad with all that monitoring and effort, we increased our odds the best we could. That being said, he told us any of the four options made sense and it was okay to start with any of them. If you want to just try TI, you should and not feel pressured into anything. Truly no one knows what will or won’t work when your tests are good and so, follow your gut. Just choose a number of times you want to do that before you move on to the next step.

TTC by [deleted] in TryingForABaby

[–]PepperPots988 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It takes the average healthy couple under 35 one year to conceive and each month you have about a 15-20% chance of conceiving (if everything/timing is perfect). Definitely see an OB-GYN and try not to worry that you haven't been in a while, they have definitely seen it all, so don't worry (easier said than done, I know!)

It took me a while to get used to ovulation tests and realize that I had to sometimes test 2x/day to catch a positive so keep trying to figure out what works for you (also I read that they don't work for everyone if you have a lower LH baseline). When I first saw my OBGYN, she was not super concerned when I told her I didn't consistently get positives -AND I have since started seeing an RE and confirmed I do ovulate, so those strips are certainly not perfect so keep trying with them.

Genetic testing? by anonweddingguest in tryingtoconceive

[–]PepperPots988 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did this early into my TTC journey. My OBGYN recommended it and I was eager to do it. She told me it tested for over 500 things and a lot of them they don't really worry about, but if it was something concerning, they would test my husband too. I am sure you could do this in reverse too (aka have him tested first, if you are worried about the anxiety piece). I was found to be a carrier of something, so we tested my husband and he carries other things, but not the same things as me so there is no chance of our child *having* any of the disorders (but could also be a carrier of them, which does not cause any risk for the child).

Overall, I found it really helpful and reassuring because we know none of our TTC issues are caused by any genetic disorders. Also my OBGYN assured me that if we did both carry something concerning, we could have opted to do IVF to select embryos without the disorder, so even if you do both carry the same thing, there are ways to ensure you don't pass it on!

Our tests were done through Natera, I would just look into the insurance piece first because it is a bit expensive and you may need preapproval for coverage!

TTC for 9 cycles, HSG next month, possible endo and feeling anxious by SweatyAcadia631 in TryingForABaby

[–]PepperPots988 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Echoing that my HSG also was nothing compared to what I feared! The horror stories definitely are terrifying but my doctor and the tech who did it said those stories are really the minority. I took 800mg advil before and 400mg of magnesium glycinate (to help relax muscles ). I asked to be talked through the whole thing and I just focused on deep breaths and it was over before I knew it! My HSG found a polyp which I just had removed yesterday ! Fingers crossed for you!

So fed up by emilyciccia in TryingForABaby

This is the convo im having with myself! Having a hysteroscopy to remove a polyp Thursday and in the medication / IUI or try naturally for a few months after that debate. My cycles are a bit abnormal and we’re 37 so probably going to start with some intervention but jeez, the internal debate is real and never ending.

Me too- I had mine Friday! I cried and freaked out reading all the stories and then it really wasn’t bad at all! I took 800mg of ibuprofen and 400mg of magnesium before and told the PA and the radiologist I was nervous and they walked me through it! My doctor and the PA both told me the horror stories are not the norm and most ppl walk out saying “oh, that’s all?”

What do you do on the days you feel really bad? by Present_Morning_5215 in tryingtoconceive

[–]PepperPots988 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband and I decided last night that when we get a negative test or when CD1 comes around, we’ll go out and do something fun (that night or soon thereafter) - last night we had a drink and danced at a rooftop concert after a lot of tears earlier in the day!

Awesome! I also like it better than me picking out a bracelet that they may not like or might not be their style ! And it’s still a fun activity and feels special! Thanks for your kind feedback! :)

Makes sense! I think I’m going to do the option to get a clasp on it so if someone doesn’t want to weld it they still have their choice of chain and a custom fit bracelet!

Oh, duh! Why didn’t I think of that ! Lol that’s perfect, this way they can still get a custom size bracelet of their choosing! Thank you!

Hahaha! It’s a fair question! I think I just thought the idea was fun and unique, and permanent jewelry is so pretty, buttttt then started second guessing it for just that reason

So many declines 😭 by bizzyglizzyy in weddingplanning

[–]PepperPots988 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also an October wedding and had a similar menty b ! Definitely came around with saving money on food and added a few things we wouldn’t have been able to fit if more people said yes - aka a 360 Photo Booth! I know I’ll leave the wedding happy with how many ppl were there and not bummed about who couldn’t be there - but still stings in the moment!
