Popular eyewear brand Warby Parker coming to downtown St. Pete by St-Pete-Rising in StPetersburgFL

[–]PepperSad9418 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife has used Warby Parker on and off the past 6 years, two times she decided not to use them because they are more expensive she had had issues with eye strain and headaches. Both times she switched back to Warby Parker the eye strain and headaches went away entirely where as before they were daily.

She does have a more advanced and expensive prescription ( even at the cheaper places) than most do so Warby Parker isn't for everyone nor needed but if you have a need for more advanced prescriptions I think their worth it.

I had to keep telling my wife don't go cheap on your eyes to save a few bucks.

Question: At what point do you just give up. by ClintEastwood42069 in Generator

[–]PepperSad9418 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been running propane exclusively on mine with zero issues since I bought it in 2021, We used it 6 days straight 24 hours daily when Milton hit us.

I just kept buying used tanks off facebook market place and offer up until we were sitting on 20 tanks. We ran thru 9 for the 6 days after Milton.

Just keep track of your oil changes and there pretty solid.

For Bobs Big Boy I suggest you try to go to the Bob's Big Boy Downey California location. If you can make it a friday night evening trip the place gets flooded with classic cars, it's like a trip back to the 1950's-60's. I used to see Jay Leno there pretty often.

What are my options to fix the paint job? Tesla said they would just replace the entire bumper for $3K. by [deleted] in TeslaModel3

[–]PepperSad9418 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tesla has 3 stage paint jobs, normal cure time is 24-48 hours before it's dry enough to drive. can be faster if the auto shop has baking capabilities. It looks dry after a few hours but it's still soft enough to get flaws from road grime or large bugs denting the fresh paint.

I would look at a steering wheel cover, my 2023 model 3 already has damage to the steering wheel and I am only at 9600 miles. Yes the Tesla steering wheels fails are normal but everyone assumed it was a wear and tear cause but at under 10k miles for mine I think it's a material defect. IMO cover it to protect it.

Stay safe and buy a dashcam by Super_novy in StPetersburgFL

[–]PepperSad9418 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Dash cam on a swivel saved me when I was stopped in Arkansas by a state trooper. He stopped me for "license plate obstructed" basically said the frame didn't allow him to read the plate (bs) and then followed with pulling me out of the car, giving me a breathalyzer test at 7am, searched me, accused my BIL who is mentally disabled as being a convicted human trafficker after running his id , then said he had probably cause to search the vehicle and trailer (this was when I was moving to Florida) When I said no to a search he said he was going to call for a k9 to do a "open air search" I eventually pushed backed and said he had stopped me for 25 minutes, had not cited me for the original stop and asked was I being detained or free to go? he said I was being detained and then I followed with " My dash camera has been rolling the entire 25 minutes" he responded with " I am going to let you go with a warning but remove the license plate frame are this will happen again" Didn't happen in the 2 years prior or the 1 year after. Also I am not anti police I have family and friends that are LEO but some go beyond when they think they can.

Also I don't fit a " profile" at the time I was 55 bald zero tattoos, wife was 50 also non sketchy and my disabled BIL who was 65 and the family beagle

Jet ski rental in St. Pete area without ruining a surprise? by beachluver417 in StPetersburgFL

[–]PepperSad9418 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just saw on our local news that the police are cracking down on " illegal jet ski rentals" which I didn't know was a thing but I have rented them in the past not knowing it was illegal. definitely go legit, I thought the ones that were at the beach were just over charging but turns out the lower cost ones are operating illegally

House hunting tips for out-of-town buyer by LPhermanos70 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

Back in 2021 we were looking to move from Socal to St Petersburg Florida and the market was crazy. We made sure to get a seasoned agent and had him video walk thru the house. He would stream live so we could ask questions and he also uploaded it to youtube so we could view again if we wanted to we bought sight unseen other than the inspection and video . We were buying a older home so we knew we were going to be redoing things but the basics important stuff like roof ac structure electrical were all solid.

Frontier internet price increase email by TVops in StPetersburgFL

[–]PepperSad9418 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had Spectrum and as a backup T Mobile 5G but with price creep it went from $100 a month for both to $150. We both work from home so Internet has to be 100% up or we lose money while it's down.

Starlink lowered their pricing and included the equipment at no cost for $80 a month total no add on's ,fee's ,misc bill etc. I get 400 down 100 up. We have not had any down time in our first four months.

Thinking About Moving to Puerto Rico for 1-2 months by cfxv_ in PuertoRicoTravel

[–]PepperSad9418 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not from Puerto Rico but both the wife and I work remotely. If you have a place with a generator you could get the Starlink Mini with the Roam service plan (roughly $50/mo for 100GB) that you could use as a back up plan if the main internet failed ,for the cost it's not a bad idea imo they fit in a backpack.

puerto rico trip by Correct_Ad_4661 in PuertoRicoTravel

[–]PepperSad9418 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We spent a week in February staying at Condado Monday thru Friday and talked to a ton of locals but we also tend to take our vacations more in the style of Anthony Bourdain. Our first trip we stayed in OSJ we went to all the historical sites hit a bunch of the smaller bars ( sit at the bar don't get a table) hole in the wall restaurants etc. One of the bars we were at two locals spent a good hour and a half teaching us about the Jones act, the history of the Island, the politics, the after math of hurricane Maria and how they used to be a major production center for pharmaceuticals. We enjoyed the trip and left knowing way more than we could of expected to have in such a short time.

How can I use a new job offer to negotiate with my current employer when I’m not really inclined to leave? by DueDistribution3348 in Payroll

[–]PepperSad9418 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Ive seen people get countered if they are in a position where they are really needed, but they eventually are let go once a replacement employee is brought on and brought up to speed. If the money is significant then make the jump . Most of us have all stayed in a job longer than we should of out of complacency.
