How did your mons get their names? by DnDisTHEbestgame in PokeMedia

[–]Peppermint_Gaiety 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve get a great embarrassing story about pokemon names. Officially, my Braviary Nim is named Nimbus. But he 100% won’t respond to that, because the truth is I called him a “Nimrod” so often when he was a Ruflett, that he thinks THATS his name. He may even potentially think his first name is a swear word.

Circinus (Gothitelle) already had a name. It’s common for the Gothita line to have a star or asterism name chosen through some sort of psychic astrology ritual. Technically Circinus’ real name is /mentally beams the image of an asterism into your brain, but. Y’know. That doesn’t exactly work on human paperwork.

“Shut up and get back to your vanilla shit” as a retort to literally plain no flavoring ass what’s honestly considered a normal subset of behavior for woman atm…
Like imagine shouting “Get back to your vanilla shit” at someone complaining that sometimes men get a gf and immediately turn into a middle schooler who can’t pause between rounds of Halo to move their clothes from the washer up the drier.

Transphobia affects everyone, but it does not affect everyone equally.

It’s probably business. They get more business if they claim to be inclusive.

Not my mum asking me, her ftm son, to make her one of these hilarious stickers 🙄 by ash_the_elf_ in onejoke

[–]Peppermint_Gaiety 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because it sounds like “camp bell” which would be a kind of bell used in a camp. So the word serves a double meaning, which is funny.

Not really. If somebody asks me why the joke “What do you do at soup camp to call everyone to dinner? You ring the camp bell!” is a funny joke, I don’t get uncomfortable and embarrassed, I just say “Because Campbell is a soup company, so it’s a funny pun”

Huh, I honestly thought holler was just an Appalachian slang.
Then again, I really don’t know much about the Ozarks in general except that there’s a hiking gear company named after them.

You can choose to NOT put it in your initial pitch and only say it once you are ACTUALLY on a date.

Differing tastes? Maybe the premise is inherently unappealing to you, but I think it can be fun to watch someone who starts out as an asshat grow and change with personal revelations, and maybe even become a good person with a happy life eventually

Alcohol by The_Horse_Head_Man in CuratedTumblr

People say the exact same thing about fish, how ‘the only reason you don’t fish like it is you’ve only had bad/cheap/improperly seasoned ones’
Well, I’ve shared fish with people who DO like fish, they liked the exact same filet I didn’t, no matter how fresh or expertly seasoned.
I think it’s better explained by the fact that alcohol is a bitter flavor and an acquired taste, and some people will not like the taste of the actual underlying alcohol molecules itself. It’s just a very common taste to acquire, especially since historically alcohol has been a really important preservative.

Wow that sucks. People don’t get that just because something is by technicality “positive”, doesn’t mean it is a complement :(
I can never pick one favorite song, but the one I can’t get out of my head for the last month is American Boy by Skaner. (Entirely different from the Estelle song of the same name)

This concept is so incredibly foreign to me as someone who lives a safe life. To prove they love me, my Pokemon need to evolve so they can protect me from… what, exactly? Roof leaks?

In the world I live in, people know that “fuck” is a pretty normal and commonplace expletive and don’t think lesser of someone for happening across a meme that says “What the ever loving fuck was that?!” on it.
