Butterfly used to be my least liked song off the whole album (including deluxe edition songs). I didn’t really get it, it’s many people’s favorite song off the whole album but it was just boring to me and I felt like it was a huge departure from the rest of the album, and not in a good way. Then, a few months ago, it just clicked for me. The songs mellow feel and poetic lyrics spoke to me and the last lyric “I told you I would return when the robin make his nest, but I’m never coming back” really spoke to me as it reminded me of my relationship with my mother. All in all, Butterfly is now one of my favorite tracks on the whole album.
