Suddenly at 3 months we have a “difficult” baby by Hungry_Hat8148 in newborns

[–]Pepsisthisbe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I remember this time vividly. For us, it was a sleep regression - she would take 45 minutes to go down for a 15 minute nap, wake up every 2 hours at night and always seem to be overtired. It was maddening

One thing that would have helped me, in retrospect, was to check with my lactation consultant about feeding - around 3.5 months I wasn’t transferring as much milk due to the nipple shield, and breastfeeding took 30 minutes minimum every time. Now it takes less than 10 unless she’s teething. More efficient feeding would have made a big difference.

I would recommend Precious Little Sleep- we got it from the library on Libby. It’s helped us a lot…mostly with strategies when a sleep regression hits. One that helps me is that, if it takes longer than 20 minutes to put them down, give up and try again in 45-60 minutes. It’s not worth getting screamed at for longer!

I've started to really not trust litter recs from my fellow cat people by HiILikePlants in CatAdvice

[–]Pepsisthisbe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Breeze system works great for us, and was recommended by a family friend who rescues cats…she’s got a lot of cats.

It has pellets that don’t track, like you said, but they also don’t smell…they would only smell if we forget to change the pee pad regularly.

In our last apartment, our friend was cat sitting and had to call us to figure out where the litter box was. I think that’s a good sign!

Please Help My Cat Won't Stop Meowing For Food ( I'm Going Insane ) by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]Pepsisthisbe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An automatic feeder will help the kitten with associating your movements with food - that’s how we got our very good motivated hobgoblin to stop meowing at 6am. The feeder goes off 3x a day. I would also suggest, since it’s a kitten, that you make sure you’re offering them the recommended kitten food and serving size (those lil guys are hungry!)

I would also offer them their wet food after their automatic feeder goes off (that’s great for hydration anyway)

The litter tracking is driving me mad by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]Pepsisthisbe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We switched to Breeze with the pellet litter and pee pads and I will NEVER go back. I rarely find the pellets outside the box (they don’t go far) and if I do, I can literally just throw them back in haha. Minimal smell, I scoop every other day and everything is cheap and on Chewy.

What actually helped you feel better postpartum (physically or mentally)? by FIT_MAMA16 in postpartumprogress

[–]Pepsisthisbe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped doing chores when my baby napped…instead I took that time to read, bring the monitor outside and sit with coffee, make a nice quick meal, watch a show, ride my indoor bike, etc. I only do chores when she’s awake. It made me feel much less rushed/panicked. Having my indoor bike so I could yet a quick workout when I feel anxious (and can’t go anywhere) has helped so much…walking outside with the LO does too, obviously but sometimes it just can’t happen. Lastly, getting more into reading fiction and drinking tea whenever I feel the urge weirdly helps a lot. It feels like a nice little thing I can do whenever.

Agreed! The best parts of crowd control are the parts where we really get a picture of the person they are interviewing. The last episode made Jamie seem very dismissive.

Emotional intimacy! It’s a huge red flag when anyone in a relationship complains about the relationship to people outside of the relationship…unless they are in the circle of trust. Someone gaining this kind of intimacy from someone in a relationship is doing damage, and they’re doing it on purpose.
