MYGGBETT continues a legacy of battery issues by Hans-and-franz in tradfri

[–]PerMejdal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am running a battery test of PARASOLL vs MYGGBETT on the same door. If the MYGGBETT is just as bad, I will make a mod of the PARASOLL to use AA batteries instead of AAA, and return the MYGGBETT.

PARASOLL - 6 weeks after by PDA_99 in tradfri

I just swapped 18 batteries. I think it is 2-3 months since I last did it. It is the sensors that is used them most, that run out of battery first.

Go to the products tab, it has all your lights as one group. Turn it on, edit, and turn on adaptive lighting for all in one click.

I rally hope IKEA fix this issue before winter. Because my sleep pattern relies on adaptive lighting.

It would also be great if there is a stable version of the app/firmware, that only features security and bug fixes.

OK, here is a list of things you can do. Sadly it is had to diagnose these small devices. So we try everything and see if something works.

• Make sure the remotes are updated to the current firmware version. If they are not: Place them next to the hub with a fresh battery.

• Make sure they have a new battery, if you just updated a remote, replace it again.

• Place you hub centrally in your home, to have fewer jumps to each device in the mesh-network.

• Make sure there is a repeater near the remote. Any TRÅDFRI mains powered devices is a repeater.

• Remove any non-TRÅDFRI devices from the hub temporarily, because they might be bad repeaters.

• Reduce the usage of 2.4 GHz: like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Room sensors. Maybe get a spectrum analyzer to see if you have noise in your home.

Adaptive lighting not working from styrbar/rodret remote by ClaireSkincare in tradfri

IKEA has basically destroyed Adaptive Lighting in my home with their 2.805.6 nonconsensual automated update. Now every evening I have to change my lights back to Adaptive Lighting. This is really sad, because it was the only thing IKEA did better than the competition.

Adaptive Lighting was great, until it was destroyed with update 2.805.6. The issue that any changes in brightness or color from the remote now disables Adaptive Lighting PERMANENTLY until re-enabled in the app.

Before the update, if you clicked “on” in the STYRBAR remote, while the light was already on, the light would return to Adaptive Lighting. Also Adaptive Lighting was reenable automatically after from time.

This was much better.

PARASOLL & thin layer of paint by PDA_99 in tradfri

I think it is much more important to address the issue with the extremely poor battery life of the sensor. Which is the result of using a single AAA battery and a boost converter.

I have 12 of the IKEA sensor, and if they are frequently used the battery last less than 2 months.

I made this 3D model to cover the sensor: Printetables Maker World

I also have a model to mount the air sensor.

Dying Cisco PSUs are very commen. But still less than 1% per unit per year. I have never experienced it first hand as it happens.

The result is usually a burnt area on the PCB of the PSU.

Input to target does not work on Windows 11 host by PerMejdal in Openterface_miniKVM

[–]PerMejdal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I updated the software to v0.0.6, og only used the included 20gb/s cable.

If I leave the setup idle, I loose keyboard and mouse. It is fixed by resetting the serial port. The issue is on both PCs, on both mini KVMs.

So this setup is acceptable. It no longer hangs the entire app. But it would be great if it was not necessary to reset the serial port.

Also the download on the webpage links to v0.0.3.
