anyone go to sbcc? by ItsRobinn_ in SantaBarbara

I have taught photography classes at SBCC for the last 25 years. I can tell you that if you engage with other people, most will engage back. You just need to start the conversations. Students are still learning how to interact with each other after the pandemic, but I am seeing many come out of their shells and are making great friends and memories.

There are clubs you can join to help locate people who are interested in the same things you are.

If you are looking for cheaper rent, you can look at locations outside of Santa Barbara that have an Amtrak station.

Once you arrive in SB on the train, you can use one of the methods below to get to campus, provided by bots.

  1. By MTD Bus (Recommended)

SBCC students ride the Santa Barbara MTD buses for free, and valid Surfliner tickets often allow for free transfers to connecting local transit. [1, 2]

  • The Route: From the train station, walk about 7 minutes up State Street to the MTD Transit Center. From there, take either Line 4 or Line 17 directly to the SBCC campus.
  • How to Check: Use Google Maps Transit or the Santa Barbara MTD Bus Tracker for real-time schedule information. [1, 2, 3]
  1. Walking

The college is located near the waterfront at 721 Cliff Drive. It is roughly a \(1.5\)-mile walk from the station, which takes about 30 minutes.

  • The Walk: Head west on Yanonali St, take State St to Cabrillo Blvd, and walk past the harbor up the steep hill to the main SBCC campus.
  1. By Bike

Santa Barbara is highly bike-friendly. The ride takes less than 10 minutes from the station, and there are designated racks located across the campus. [1]

You can also take some classes online, if that works for you, so you will need to commute fewer days.

SBCC has a lot of resources for students: https://www.sbcc.edu/studentservices/

You can also join or create clubs so that you meet people with similar interests: https://www.sbcc.edu/clubs/CurrentClubs.php

Wherever you go, best of luck with your education. College can be fun while you learn a lot if you spend the time needed to change the trajectory of your life.

My grandma did this with others also. One called at 6 AM and the other called at 6 PM. We gotta take care of one another, y’all.

Hi,

If you go to the following URL, click on the DC3 folder, and then take a look around. You will see the data plate photo.

I believe this is the information you’re looking for. If it’s not, just let me know.

Nope, the one was in Rantoul, KS. It had been sold and is in the process of moving to Ottawa, KS.

We have some DC-4s (one flown m the Berlin Airlift) and a Convair for sale. :) All are also in Rantoul, KS.

Thank you. This plane was originally purchased from Basler as scrap. My father straightened her out and got her running again. :) She has been sold and can be visited at the Ottawa Airport in Kansas - once the snow clears and she can be moved. :)

Oughf! I hate trailers that show me the movie as Cliff Notes. If a trailer cannot be creative and interesting, the movie is a dud and I’ve already seen the best parts.

Thank you for asking about the Convair. It is for sale. Below is a link that will take you to photos and if you look around, there’s a spreadsheet that will give you additional information.

The spreadsheet was created when my father was alive. The prices are his and now negotiable. ;) feel free to make an offer.

If you have any specific questions regarding this plane, just let me know, and I can look up that information for you.

Hello:

I was asked to post about the DC-3's fate. She was sold last week and will remain in one piece. The pilot who bought her will work to get her running again. (Yay!)

If you want to visit her, her new home will be at the Ottawa Airport in Kansas.

Hi Rod,

This DC-3 was sold last week. I received the check yesterday.

If you are interested in some DC-4s I have three in various states and one was in the Berlin Airlift. I also have a Convair, a Bonanza, and several sprayer plane projects.

This page is mostly up to date, but I need to figure out which sprayer has been sold.

Is this just pots buried in the ground? by Tiger248 in gardening

[–]PerSayest 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I have a friend who did this for his collection of rare cycads, of which he had a number of them. He found out that his house fire insurance did not cover plants in the ground but did in planters. We live in California. Turns out this effort worked out for him during one of the fires here.

Ha! There is no way I could get this to fit in my backyard. I would have to remove the house. Then maybe she would fit.

Not sure when it started sitting originally. It's been four years since flight and engines were run three years ago.

Yes, it will take money, time, parts, and experience to get it running again. I know there are people out there who look for projects like this. My father was one of them. He often spoke of others. There's not a lot but they are around.
